Post-LSD Effects on Cognition (Academic Testing): Is cognition improved next day?

Hey BLers,
Got this from a friend today. Asked me to post it:

I am short on time so let me get straight to the point. I am taking the ACT for the final time on Saturday. I have taken it 3 times. The first time, I took LSD (for the first and only time so far) the day before, slept for two hours, and then got a 29.
The second two times I have not consumed LSD(or other psychedelics) prior to the test, and both times got 28s-one thing would go up while another went down.

My question is: Is cognition improved the day after LSD (or mushrooms)?

I have heard people say they feel ore logical, and I know low dose LSD is a nootropic (and I take noopept), but don't know about this.
any info is GREATLY APPRECIATED, ESPECIALLY with sources, as I really need to do well on this test (would like to get a 32 or 33).

Would like to know if mushrooms do this/the difference between the two, as I may not be able to get LSD in time. Anyway, sorry this is so short/blunt and thanks in advance for the info!!

I should clarify: I meant using the day before, going to sleep, and them getting up.
Have you heard thag about psilocybin as well or specificallyLSD?

ime, knowing a psychedelic mindstate with the associated thought processess can enable one to think more abstractly and remember material easier through "far-fetched" mental associations, but for me that lasts for at least a few years (maybe even a lifetime). the day after a day spent tripping has always left me with some emotional instability and reduced concentration. when you are in such a state, putting yourself in a situation that puts pressure on yourself is almost certainly a bad idea.

Yes. I recently saw a show in which an upper class family man took shrooms for his headaches, but he would trip and then had relief for days afterwards, not during which I thought was an important detail. I remember going back to work on a Monday on week after a weekend when i had tripped on shrooms. I was talking to someone in the hall and they asked 'why are you smiling?' I just said 'I don't know, I feel positive.' It makes me think, it wasn't just a smile that made him say that, I and most people are smiling at work. There was something deeper to my smile that made him spontaneously curious, as if he saw it came from a unique place of well being. Tripping enhances the mind capacity in a much more spiritual way that opiates or stimulants.

I really would not recommend taking LSD or any other psychedelic the day before an exam. It will make your brain tired.

I don't know about improved but definitely does not deter any of my cognitive abilities the next day like mdma or alcohol do.

I wouldn't bet on cognition benefiting on the short-term, but cognition and analytical problem solving are generally related to creative thinking and I think that psychedelics can help with switching to other thought patterns. I am wary of suggesting that there are short-term benefits because you need to learn to integrate that properly and critically because switching modes of thinking may just as well lead to spurious and illogical thought forms. With creative goals there are usually less boundaries set to qualify results while cognition and performance tend to be measured using rules.

Given that even drugs developed as central stimulants and cognitive enhancers only show modest improvements on standard measures of cognitive performance I seriously doubt a psychedelic will improve performance the next day. The effect will likely be negative or neutral, and if the former mostly because of interference with sleep.

I actually find that LSD affects my academic ability in a negative way though only slightly. I have improved creativity, and more motivation to do things, but it's definitely not something I'd do the night before an exam.

Taking a low dose like 15-30uq , 1-2 hours before exam might not be such a bad idea. But one needs to check it before as the effects can be specific to an individual. I've never check it with an exam, but it was helpful in other activities requiring high mental or physical performance.
