Here's Danny the not quite 100% Dalmation. (The pic was taken before he acquired his many 'battle wounds')
We got him when he was a pup, had so many laughs with him over the years and also he got us into quite a few scrapes; whenever he saw another medium sized or big dog he would either fight it or try to shag it. :D Of course we tried to keep him on the leash when other dogs were in sight, knowing his behavioural problems, but he could smell or hear another dog log before we could see them. It was nice to give him the freedom of being left off the leash and to see him go like an uncoiled spring, 35mph i think he ran at iirc. (Yeah i know, irresponsible dog owners tut tut, we did try to only give him his "freedom" when it seemed safe to do so.
They used to be 'coach dogs' and they can run and jump fences for mile after mile in their peak years. It was quite sad towards the end of his life, around 13 human years, where he was so exhausted that even a 5 minute walk up and down a small path 'round the block' would be too much for him. Great dogs to have as pets, they tend to be extremely loyal and affectionate to their owners, ferociously teritorail, (we didn't encourage this) and great fun for playing games with. We once plonked a full size mirror in the room, and first time he saw himself he let out a very loud low single bark. He ran round the back of the mirror, saw there was nothing there and immediately lost interest. Apparently he could hear my citroen dyan coming from miles away and my dad told me he would start getting excited 5 minutes before i arrived, as i used to spoil him rotten.
We got into a "Fenton" type scrape with him chasing sheep halfway up Ben Nevis, or rather my Dad did heh. Danny got quite a beating for that, to the very embarrasing shock and disgust of lots of onlookers.
Fenton!
