Possible psychosis?

I've been doing drugs for almost a year now. They never gave me any problems until I started smoking spice. I smoked mad hatter maybe 10 times (+/-) and for the most part I had bad trips. After that I started to notice a little bit that things just weren't quite right when I was sober and my highs from weed have never quite been the same. After doing LSD and shrooms I've noticed things a lot more. Sometimes I'll hear shit that's not there or I get this weird feeling in my body and sometimes I've noticed that some things will even move slightly (similar to "breathing" while tripping but not quite as pronounced). If I'm lucid dreaming, sometimes I'll wake up or only be like half asleep and when I get up these things are really noticeable. I've been having these weird and paranoid thoughts lately too. I've also started to get this random ringing in my ears. I'm kind of worried that I might be losing my mind. Is it possible that I have some sort of "problem" (even though there's no one in my family with anything)?

I would definitely see a doctor and get some explanation, or treatment in case this is not a temporary issue but something maybe progressive as often is the case with psychological disturbances.

The drugs that you have been using are well known for bringing out an underlying mental condition that may not have become apparent until years later.
They are not usually the cause as is sometimes believed but will produce a faster onset of the condition.
Cannabis has been blamed for causing schizophrenia etc, but it usually only occurs in those that might already have an underlying condition, it just speeds up the onset or brings it out in that person which may have never occured had they not used such substances.
This is my opinion anyway, and I'm not a doctor or mental health professional, so you should seek advice from someone who is, as the post above states, it may be progressive so I would think it would be best to get advice or treatment early before the possible condition gets any worse, especially if you have these symptoms when you are sober.

Hey Stan,

I would go and see a doctor but in the mean time try not to worry, reality is a flighty beast at best and we all hear and see things from time to time that may or may not be there. Try not to get too anxious about it as this could lead to derealisation which you seem to be suffering from mildly at present along with associated paranoia these things are most likely going to pass as long as you don't start to panic too much.

Do not do any more drugs until you are OK again and even then psychedelics don't sound like they agree with you so best to leave them alone.

The real issue with hearing stuff and seeing stuff is how you react to it, all this sounds more like anxiety than a serious psychological problem I'm sure your doctor will have you sorted in no time.

Have a read up about Quantum Physics this might give you some perspective on how unreal the allegedly "real" world actually is :D

I totally agree, if I had taken notice of half the things I'd seen or heard before than I would most likely have gone mad by now. I've had some pretty intense experiences but have saved myself from insanity by recognising things for what they were and that they were the cause of whatever substance it was at the time. Psychedelic drug experiences can be overwhelming and very frightening for some people and can be hard to handle if you allow yourself to panic.

Just thought I'd add, the time that I heard trance music coming from the kettle I was boiling (I had to lean closer to the kettle to listen and make sure where the sound was coming from) I knew I had been awake for far too long!
But I was lucky enough to find it amusing and not let it scare the shit out of me!

^^ Lol, the trance music/kettle line made me laugh :) Reminds me of the time myself and a bunch of about 15 other friends took shrooms during a weekend that we had hired out a lodge in a nature reserve in South Africa. I don't remember much of that weekend. Except for months after 2 certain mates kept bringing out their mobile phone's to show me having a full on conversation with this oak tree while I was fucked off my head. Ahhh... those were the good old days - I miss South Africa :(

I would see a doctor immediately they will probably start by giving you anti-anxiety medication to see if that calms you down then if that doesn't work maybe they'll put you on something like Abilify or Risperdal. Don't be afraid of medication I suffer from a form of psychosis and I wouldn't be able to live my life if it wasn't for medication. Also STAY AWAY! from psychedelics as they can only make your situation worse. Also go into details with your doctor as the more details you give him the better he/she can treat you.

Yeah I thought the story about the kettle would lighten things up a bit!
That is just one of the many strange happenings I could tell, I've been fortunate to be able to laugh at crazy stuff which would possibly scare the shit out of some people and to not have to hide under the bed shitting myself when the shadow people decide to visit!
It's the mind which causes some people to fuck up if you start letting it have the power to panic, I've had to talk many people down before while I've been happily tripping off my tits at the time!

Haha! I don't suppose if you remember if the oak tree was answering back?!

Stay away from psychedelics as this will only further worsen it. You're most likely having flashbacks from the acid or HPPD, and I suggest that you generally just abstain from cannabis use as well. Typically abstinence will help these symptoms go away :) Otherwise go see a doctor and most likely they'll prescribe a benzo for you, but you need to be aware of the dangers of that as well.

It's really bad if I'm tired. It's not uncommon to hear shit as I'm trying to fall asleep or see things if I randomly wake up in the middle of the night or if I stay up really really late. Last night I orally took an opana 10mg ER and smoked a little bit of bud. As I was laying there I heard this scream/laugh thing my friend does. Sometimes it's like someone is actually making the noise but other times the noises are in my head. It's like my thoughts are uncontrollable and really "loud" is that makes sense.

Also, I've only really had bad trips off spice and I could usually keep pretty calm when I had one. As for my experience with LSD, my first time I started to get a little nervous but I turned the lights on and I was fine. I've never had a bad trip off shrooms or MXE or DXM.

After reading that, I definitely urge you to stop using cannaboids for an extended period of time, if possible quit. Continuous use is only going to make it worse.

Sleep deprivation can be a major contributing factor to psychosis even if only temporary, hence my kettle story, but it sounds as if there is more involved to it from what you describe, and the type of drugs that you have used I would say are the primary cause of your symptoms and further use as others have said will most definitely make the condition a lot worse.

What sort of things are you seeing? The things that you are hearing sound quite disturbing and a lot more serious to be able to be ignored than a musical kettle.

I'm schizophrenic. Should I avoid cannabis and psychedelics?

The CBD in cannabis is as good as an atypical antipsychotic in treating schizophrenia. So weed is good! Keep on tokin!

Whatever you do, you must not let the paranoia get the best of you! That is how it will destroy your life, little by little.

If I were you, I'd definitely stay away from ANY drugs until my problems subside.

Dude, I know this is off-topic but I don't see any other way of saying this: Clear your message inbox. I wanted to send you a PM earlier but it said that you cannot receive any PM's because your inbox is full.

If I look at certain patterns or focus on something it looks like it is "breathing" or stretching. Sometimes objects will grow slightly then shrink. Lately it seems like if I focus on anything not moving at all, it will move slightly.

How intense is the breathing stretching thing? I mean do they actually warp or just sort of go out of focus slightly if that makes sense?

I've done shitloads of psychs and weed and also have a fair bit of sleep deprivation at times and I see shit moving especially if I stare at it but that's quite "normal" i would say. After a few sleepless nights I could makeout scrambled text on the wall but it's nothing other than sleep and drug induced symptoms which go a as soon as I get some kip. So it doesn't bother me. But are you getting worse stuff than that?
