Hey bluelighters, my friend recently had a terrible night due to what I believe to be a date rape drug. I did not witness this, but from what her friends and relatives have told me it is the only thing I could think of.

From what I understand she was having pre-drinks before a party with another group of girls, she seemed fine then and arrived at the party safe and well. There were a lot of random guys at this gathering hence my suspicion. I saw her for a little while then lost track of her as the night went on. Apparently later in the night she had started acting weird and forgetting people's names etc. Eventually her boyfriend pulled her aside to try and figure out what was going on. According to what I have heard the onset was pretty sudden. One moment she knew the people around her and what was going on, the next minute she had no idea. She did not recognize her own boyfriend or brother nor could she recall their names. She seemed to agree with everything that was said to her, for example, her brother said that his name was 'steve' (this was a lie), and that was what she referred to him from then on. Her boyfriend also told her that she should try to sleep and for the next half hour or so all she would say was "sleep, sleep, sleep" over and over again. They eventually decided to take her to the hospital as everyone was getting pretty worried. On the way there she suddenly snapped out of it and asked what she was doing in the car. She remembered everyone's names and who they were, but could not remember the events of the night. I'm not sure whether they took her to the hospital after that or not, but I am aware that she woke up in the morning with a headache and that she felt physically cold.

Are these symptoms typical of a date rape drug? If anybody can shed any light upon this situation I would really appreciate it, I am really worried for my friend.

I feel fairly certain that even if IV'ed a date rape drug would slowly fade away. However one of the short acting benzos might be responsible. Or one of those barbs that is very short acting.

I really don't know what to tell you, GHB and GBL both have distinctive tastes that someone would notice in their drink. Did she leave her drink unattended so it would be possible for someone to slip something into it? Maybe she was just drunk, I've seen people act a fool drinking too much too fast many times, especially women...

As I mentioned, most of this information is second hand. She very well could have left her drink unattended during the night. Yes, she would have been drunk at the time, but according to her brother and boyfriend, it appeared that she was obviously under the influence of something other than alcohol.

We can't guess this man, sorry. It certainly sounds like something could have been slipped in to her drink though... That's about all we can say.
