I am seriously interested in a vape, and while a high end one looks fantastic, I smoke outside well over half of the time. For this reason, I am looking into the portable ones that do not require cords, but recommendations on these are a bit harder to come by and compare.

So I ask you, BL community, for experiences with the various portable vapes. (both lighter-required and non)

VaporGenies are pretty cool but honestly a decent quality, portable vape might be hard to come by :/

lol @ vaporgeni's youtube video. i got a question, it looks like an ordinary pipe but use the ceramic filter to protect from burning... so does that mean there is no weed smell if i compare to light bulb vaporzing? i'm temped to buy this since i'm sick of toking from a lightbulb like a crackhead. i might have to head down to local headship to give this a try :)

edit: or i could buy ceramic filter and add it to my current pipe lol

Ummm i made one with heat lamp lightbolb with the not glass cut off

i taped the top of skinny bottle to it and added a hole (like a shotty)

but you have to use a jet lighter

my Vapolution is extremely portable - it even comes with a car adapter - and you can buy an optional battery pack. Where the Vapolution falls down is in its construction - and its temperature regulation. It's still good value for money though in the scheme of things.

Not true, I've heard great reports about the Iolite. My friend owns one and claims he can use it to get baked in a movie theater without anyone noticing. :D

I was going to try the Iolite, but it seems like the technology could stand to be improved a bit. I figure I'll try a lighter-powered one temporarily until either a few more improvements are made on something like the Iolite, or I just break down and get one because this lighter-powered one gives me too much trouble...

Thanks all the replies so far.

The best travel friendly vap that I have ever used is composed of 3 things that you can easily find in your house.

Take two knives and place the tips above a flame long enough to get the tips singing hot.

Take the two blades and pick up a small nug of weed with them.

This will start to vaporize the bud and all you have to do is keep a straw in your mouth while you inhale the smoke.

The stoner version of chasing the dragon.

I bought a vape in Amsterdam this summer - it looks exactly like a (tobacco) pipe, but has a screw-on piece that covers the bowl, and it is through this that you apply the flame.
This piece contains 2 heat-resistant pieces that block much of the flame's heat.

(I don't know if it is the same idea s the Iolite, but it sounds similar)

Very easy to use, little problem with the smell.
Looks like a regular pipe, which can come in handy.
I love it.

^That type is not that bad, IMO. I am really interested in this Launch Box discussed above... it looks really promising so far!

I looked at the iolite since I wanted a portable vape but I avoided it because of the fact that it since I don't want anything I'm smoking or vaping with to have butane in it as the way to smoke/vape and have the butane close to my face, and the price you can get a high quality vape that can be used indoors.

I wanted a portable vape that was discrete, small, not too expensive, and one that vaped very well and I got that with the magic flight launch box.
