Poppy Tea

I have not seen a report for some time about this substance, and I thought I would give you a little taste about how it feels when one is tolerant to poppy tea, but has not gotten their dose for a while. Sort of a reverse trip report. Let me begin by stating that poppy tea is not a benign substance, it is quite powerful, and care needs to be taken to avoid addiction.

Twenty-four hours since last cup of tea: Feel ok, for sure not great, I know something is wrong, feeling of getting a cold.

Thirty-one hours: Not feeling so well, but it is time to go to bed as I have work tomorrow. Sleep is not good and I wake up several times during the night.

Thirty-nine hours: Feel tired and slightly sore upon waking, not much of a need for food.

Fourty-one hours: God this sucks! Feeling like I have quite a cold. Nose running, feeling hot and feverish, and I have to visit the bathroom twice in an 45 minute period.

Fourty-two hours: I have had enough. Symptons increasing and I have a full day ahead of me.

This is a bad thing when it happens at work. I knew this was going to happen so I was forced to plan ahead. As carefully as possible I have mixed some ground pods, about 8 golf ball sized, with some sugar and a tea bag from the employee coffee area. I let the tea steep with the crused up pods for ten minutes, strained them, and then drank.

T+0:15 Because there is no food in my stomache, I begin to feel something happening. Symptoms have not subsided, but mentally I know they will begin to lessen, and so I feel better.

T+0:30 Now it is beginning to work. Stomache stops rumbling and nose is beginning to dry up a bit.

T+0:45 OK, now I begin to start feeling normal. Nose stops running, and I have no urge to go to the bathroom.

T+1:30 Hunger has returned, and I am looking foward to lunch. I don't feel feverish anymore, and am greeting people with a smile on my face.

T+2:00 All is well. I usually find it takes me about two full hours to peak on poppy tea. I have a slight buzz and feel relaxed, much like one beer and 5mg. of valium combined. I know later I am going to want to get high, that is just the way it is.

You cannot skirt addiction if you decide to do this substance everyday, or even every three days, as opium alkaloids last up to seventy-two hours. That means even drinking tea twice a week is a fairly sure way for you to run into physical addiction. I hope these words will warn any newbies of the potential dangers of this powerful opiate. I have read lots of posts about poppy tea lately, and I want people to know what they are getting into. I never thought I would become addicted.

Post Script: I stated I wanted to get high later in the night. Guess what? I was barely able to. I made an additional eight pods for tea, and when that was not working to my satisfaction, I ate a quarter-cup of raw powder also. I hardly got any good feelings out of it. Tolerance to opium can skyrocket quickly. If I try and do it everyday, it barely works. Now I must spend about ten bucks every two days just to feel normal. I know I have to change this course of events soon before it gets worse.

Thanks for sharing.

Updated title to conform with guidelines.

Yea, it sorta is like the "anti-trip report"
But still, I think its something people should read, especially people just getting involved in opiates. Who knows, maybe this will help people out

Good job.

Nice trip and very informative. Thanks.

How would you compare the potency and euphoria of poppy tea to other opiates like oxycodone or heroin? Are the main constituents of poppy tea codeine and morphine or are there other opiates in the tea?

I did hope by posting this report that it would make someone at least rethink what they might decide to do about their opiate use. The euphoria content of PT is not as high as oxy or heroin, but quite a bit greater than vikes or of course codiene. It feels most similar to morphine but not as "clean" as a pill. The thing about it is that it lasts a really long time. After a good cup you may feel nice for 10 hours or more. Frequently, you can still feel it the next day. So the euphoria is not that strong, just extremely long lasting. The tea can be quite potent. One time I made a cup and then four hours later ran into a friend who gave me 40mg. of vike. I barely felt the pills for 10 minutes. The tea was much stronger. I should have saved the vike for another time, oh well. The tea, as I understand, has about 40 different alkaloids in it. Morphine, codiene, paperavine, and thebaine are the main ones. Thebaine is where oxy comes from, it is the mother of the drug. This gives the tea its stimulating properties and that is why some people feel stimulated on oxy. Besides the main four, I am not real sure what the others do. I don't think there has been much research in the area that has been made public.

for me, poppy tea is very sneaky. When i do partake, I make sure not to drink it more than a few days in a row to avoid the nasty withdrawls.

as the madhungarian said, the withdrawls dont start until about 24 hours after the last dose. I can usually go a whole day (like drink at night, go to sleep, wake up and go to sleep again) without pods before i feel anything, which can trick you into thinking you arent going to feel bad withdrawls and take more tea.

once they hit they last for **a couple days**...much longer and than vicodin withdrawl. you feel like you've got a nasty flu and life seems pointless and miserable. And this is only after a week of using.. i can't imagine how bad it would be if you were to use for a month or longer 8o

last time i got pods it seems the thebaine content was much higher than the morphine/codiene.. i got a minimal high and a nasty headache that has lasted almost a week now. since it is a botanical you can't depend on each pod/batch to be the same. after this thebaine experience i dunno if i wanna try pods anymore :(

woah thats crazy!

I was addicted to heroin for a while so I know how harsh an opium addiction can be. I've never heard of anyone getting addicted to tea, but damn I believe it. That sucks dude, good luck with that shit

Excellent report, withdrawl and drug addiction can be a very tough thing to endure, i'd say it's more "character building" than any number of weekend away camps. Thanks for posting this report, and good luck with your situation. :)

Poppies.org offered(or used to.../archives)simple things you can take/do/ingest to get over withdrawls quicker and make them less harsh. They were mostly pratical things......not like saying "take an oxycontin or a handful of vicodin". An entire forum was devoted to just what you are complaining about, so check it out.
