I read somewhere on erowid that it is possible to get some kind of opium out of poppy seeeds (the kind of seeds found on bagles) does anyone know if this is true?

Sure......grow them. Score the pods and dry the goo, or make a tea from the pods.......the seeds them selves have no psychoactive value.
The seeds must not be cooked....

There has been some debate that eating poppy seeds can cause someone to taste positive for opiates on a drug screen. This is highly unlikely and unproven.
It is very easy to grow the opium poppy plant...

What is freedom? I don't know anymore. Its something so far removed from anything I've ever experienced that I'm not sure I can even comprehend it. Make Freedom A Reality

You can order seeds off eBay - check buyer feedback first, as many will sell the store-bought kind.... we found some buyers that had seeds which yeilded some NICE pods, full of latex...
And Seinfeld could possibly be the crappiest show on TV!

Blahahaha .....you have obviously never grown them (or been to poppies.org) . Agreed, the strains you get out of the McCormick bottle are not the highest morphine content strains but they’re P. Som’s and will produce pods with a morphine content when grown. It is best to buy seeds at organic food stores where they are fresher and have better viability. Planted they will produce nice white flowers, and given love and care nice fat pods. It takes a hell of a lot of them to get a tiny amount of opium, that’s if you know what you are doing….but it works. Don’t let them freeze.
Of course it is a no no to grow them but.....

They are totally legal as long as they are being gron for decoration - so a few inj your garder is cool, but a garage full of them isn't... oh, and once you milk the pods, the razonr marks can be used as evidecne you're BREAKING THE LAW!

"an Indianapolis DEA agent said that when it came to home-garden Papaver somniferum, "we wouldn't walk around the corner for that." Nonetheless, the agency's home office decided it would try to lessen the chance of wading into Granny's garden to uproot poppies. The agency placed notices in horticultural trade newsletters stating that companies selling seeds with cultivation instructions--or the plant itself--could be charged with a crime. The approach was decidedly low key. "Perhaps if they made a big public relations thing and it got attention in the media, it would give more people the idea to go after this substance and use it illegally," says Madi Heller, president of the American Association for the Dried and Preserved Floral Industry."
