Sometimes I use poppers during sex acts specifically isopropyl nitrate which is a legal type within the UK. Several times I have experienced Cyanosis and my partner noted my lips went blue and I noted my fingernails were blue. Have read up on the condition and wonder if this happens to other users? Silly question but is it dangerous? Is it possible to go a bit to far with this. For now I cut back my usage last time I just inhaled less and no Cyanosis was noted, not as fun though 8)

It could be methemoglobinemia. It's where some drugs, like nitrites, oxidize the hemoglobin so it can't absorb as much oxygen. It may not be dangerous if mild, but can be toxic if serious. Or it could just be low blood pressure.

Alkyl nitrites are generally regarded as relatively safe and they are used medically for angina pectoris and cyanide poisoning. Generally the only death are from someone drinking poppers, either by accident or on a dare. However there's conflicting research that says it may weaken your immune system or possibly cause cancer.

Using poppers can cause methemoglobinemia and hemolysis, especially in overdose. People have had serious adverse effects from inhaling poppers, but THC2LSD is right that deaths from inhalation alone are rare. What "relatively safe" means is that the use of poppers when used in normal doses and used properly, based on the info/studies available is generally regarded as no more dangerous than alcohol, tobacco, or other recreational drugs. If you get any of the chemical on your skin or inhale the liquid it can result in much more severe effects.

When your nails, lips etc start turning blue, that's a sign to stop use immediately. Tissue hypoxia can be serious. It is a wise idea for you to use less if you've been getting those kind of effects.

Good information guys :) Seems I will be sticking to lower does or perhaps not using at all as lower doses can be kind of a tease.
