Hey all.

SWIM is wondering if poppers (amyl nitrate) will be alright to fly with check in luggage, state to state.
It will be stored with the toiletries bag along with colognes and aftershaves, it will be in a little container filled with cotton balls (soaked in).

Thanks :)

Don't use swim. We know it's you.
Poppers are highly flammable, and from what I recall you should be flying with such things in hand luggage.

I know someone who has flown with them before, that's not saying much really, but that's one example I know of.

I wouldn't. Sounds like a potential nightmare. Flying sucks enough without being pulled into a room to be grilled about the drugs in your suitcase and miss your flight. Ask Siri where the closest sex shop is when you land.

I wouldn't recommend it! Even if they aren't banned, do you fancy spending the duration of your holiday in a manky foreign jail cell while they work out what it is? No? Then don't!

Thanks for the replys, It's not going overseas, this in Aus. Have no chance of getting one when there.

I'm sure it would be considered a bomb threat somehow... It's not like they are illegal though.

I didn't even think those things were even around anymore outside of a hospital setting. But it's my understanding that you can't fly with any sort of liquid in any container(even a bottle of water)and just think of what will happen when the security dogs get a whiff of it.I would just score some real drugs when I landed and not risk flying with contraband of any kind. But then again,I'm the kind of guy who can't stand jail.

They're used as an antidote for cyanide poisoning but their primary use has been as a recreational drug for decades. Maybe you're thinking of a different compound?
