Certainly many people are familiar with vast amounts of stuff relating to relationships that pop culture is constantly shoving down our throats. The question is, does any of this stuff really amount to anything? Are you affected by it? Do you follow advice found in publications like Maxim and Cosmopolitan? Does it work for you?
Personally, I find this shit to be pretty bogus. It seems like today's pop culture has managed to preserve the worst of dating traditions and replaced the good traditions it threw out with stuff that is shittier and even more oppressive.
I don't think pop culture is reflecting what people really want, but does a good job at making them accept this shitty substitute for what we call romance in today's world. However, not all pop culture is the same, and some of it can have a positive effect, but I think the majority of it still sucks pretty bad.
Do you limit your thinking when it comes to finding and maintaining relationships to these commonplace ideas or are you really willing to choose for yourself?
