Police leave ransom note for pot plants

so wait, the police broke in and entered the grow location illegally and placed a note, leading the guy to fuck himself over?

it seems like a good lawyer should be able to get this thrown out, since it never would've occurred if the police hadnt broken the law to plant the note. and i find it hard to consider that they could've had a warrant to enter the locale, because then there would be no point in leaving the note.

the fact that police get away with all kinds of illegal shit if it leads to drug busts really pisses me off.

Nowhere in the article does it mention when or under what circumstances they found the plants. While I despise the police as much as the next guy, it's incredibly premature to jump to the conclusion that they are breaking the law based on the provided article. Well, when I say not breaking the law I'm obviously not talking about the Constitution.

what i'm wondering is how the police got in there in the first place to steel the plants from his appartment??? straange

The story that leads this thread is innacurate. Click on the Miami Herald link in my first post. The plants weren't in a freezer, but in the dirt of a "vacant lot." The lot was wooded so the plants were probably not visible from the lot's exterior. It doesn't go into detail about whether that lot was privately owned--though it definitely wasn't owned by the planters (otherwise the note would've been unnecessary). Once they apprehended the note's respondent, they obtained a search warrant for his home and found his stash in a freezer there (see picture).

There are disadvantages to planting weed on a narrow, densely-populated strip, one of which is that you're planting weed on a narrow, densely-populated strip.

You people are not reading this right...

He clearly didn't know it was the police who did it.

And seriously, this is what they stoop to? Fucking pigs have nothing better to do.

The article is written to make it seem like the guy knew he was talking to police, but he didn't. He probably thought someone else discovered his grow and tried to get it back. I mean, since when do police leave ransom notes?

What he did was still stupid... I mean, if your grow is discovered you abandon it, usually. But I think it makes him look less stupid once you realize he didn't know it was cops.
