Police Brutality Thread

Jesus christ... watching that video of the cop just mercilessly choking the guy out, while the other cop just stands there and watches. :| Okay yeah they're fired, great. That's like Catholic priests getting quietly removed for child molestation and facing no criminal charges. I don't care if you're a cop, if you cold-blooded murder someone, you need to face justice. I get that sometimes cops are put in life or death situations and have to kill someone or be killed. But this is so clearly not that. Sickening.

I was wondering how CEP is going when this story broke all over the world.

I have a few questions and maybe you or others can assist here as there's a cultural difference between Australia and the States.

Firstly, when it comes to deaths in an arrest situation or bringing someone under arrest, the use of lethal force via gunfire is last ditch effort and use of non lethal force (tasers) is more common. This is because an independent investigation is publically known to happen and extraordinary amounts of paperwork, witness accounts, footage etc are collected and examined, Police Unions and counsellors work with the officers and families of the deceased as well to examine in infinite detail the events and outcome. All deaths are investigated with Police NOT being at all exempt from murder charges should they be found to have done that. That happens as a matter of course, the officer is suspended with or without pay (I not sure which) to get them some time away from active duty as it would not be a together person on duty at that time anyway.

Firing from the job immediately simply doesn't happen, as the video clearly shows a murder being underway of someone in police care is evidence enough for the immediate arrest of those officers and questioning to begin the process of charging them (and receiving counselling/union /legal representation). From there they would be stood down from active duty but not fired, Police officers have a duty of care and breaching that might end in more charges being laid and are taken seriously enough that it seems lethal force isn't just doled out like it looks America does.

The police should have been taken into questioning and charged with at least grievous bodily harm or similar immediately then charges upgraded so the charges will stick especially as the evidence comes in. Would that have been the one thing needed to avoid so many people just sick of this shit burning down their neighbourhoods?

I watched an analysis of the second autopsy and the metabolites of the fentanyl in George Floyd's system as it breaks down will be the evidence that the heart attack was brought on by asphyxiation/extreme pressure cutting off oxygen to the lungs and the police (all 4 at an earlier point according to the store clerk) sitting on him. The heart muscle simply died from no oxygen as it needs a lot more than other organs to keep pumping.

So the heart attack reason was easy to see, the fent metabolite being in his system showed it had started being excreted and the level of drug in his system was on the decline, he was alert and responsive as opposed to nodding out and not in danger of overdose.

He died in a cruel horrible way by police who did not give a shit at all. Is this because American Police are simply not selected in the first place based upon their character trates/ability to see they have duty of care and do they even get any type of psychological assessment, training, exams to pass whatsoever as that is brutal here and many physically fit bright people who want to join yet do fail time and again to pass these gruelling mental health psychological testing?

What does one have to do to get in the police force there?

Deaths in custody or as a result of arrest at the hand of police or prison staff should not happen and should only occur when there is no other choice such as the offender is going to kill someone else, set a upon a police officer with intent to kill, I don't know if beong armed even is an excuse to just shoot yo kill since gun ownership is a thing there, as Floyd was unarmed , handcuffed and on the ground surrounded by 4 big physically fit men then it shows lack of ability to do their job and lack of want to.

Utterly disgraceful, this really makes the police over there have the reputation they have- shame for the many who are capable to be let down by these 4.

RIP GEORGE FLOYD.

More than just fired, charged with murder, seeking death penalty. Why don't yall look up the rap sheet of Mr. Floyd not exactly model citizen, as well as toxicology reports. while at it, the history for the Georgia man too. and keep in mind that the officers see this information the moment they plug the name into database. So they know immediately the propensity for violence of that individual. Its not discrimination, nor profiling. Floyd was a sorry SOB, no matter skin color.

That's all irrelevant.

A record of violent offenses justifies the cops being prepared for possible violence, it doesn't justify them murdering arrested suspect's for fucks sake.

I am really sick of people acting like a criminal background means you have no rights in perpetuity. As if as soon as you are convicted of a violent offense you shouldn't expect the police not to just murder you with no good reason.

And it's especially disgusting and hypocritical seeing it on bluelight given that it stands to reason a substantial number of people here aren't exactly "model citizens" either.

Once the words you're under arrest, game over, dont fight, dont argue, just makes it worse.
Arrest record in itself doesnt precipitate force, agreed. But damn sure changes response to resistance. Atlanta isn't mayberry, it's a warzone in many areas.

Murdering " arrested suspects"? Really?
Both were RESISTING arrest. Get it right

You can't murder suspect's for resisting arrest either.

I completely agree, however, some people will be stupid and resist arrest. And that does not entitle cops to just gun them down.

There are laws about when lethal force can be used. Good laws. And the cops should be expected to follow them.

Again, get it right. Once arrested, not suspect. Manslaughter, perhaps. Murder,no.
What ya gonna do when there are no more cops because they cant do their job? To ignore the facts, that most dangerous places in US cities are absolutely ethnic neighborhoods, that those groups kill their own far more often than the cops, accidents, or work related injuries, cancer, anything. failing to factor in makes one a closed minded fool. Dont want to be treated like a criminal, stop acting like one. If black lives matter, prove that in your own ethnic group.

Don't give me this crap "when there are no more cops". Asking cops to follow the law about use of force is not going to result in every cop disappearing. It's a nonsense suggestion meant to create a false dichotomy.

And yes. Murder. Felony murder and second degree murder. Those are the charges that have been brought against these officers.

And yes, suspect. Because police can't find you guilty. That's the courts job.

Seriously enough of this nonsense "if cops can't kill people whenever they like there will be no cops left" crap.

I see no addressing the aforementioned other facts.

I see no addressing the aforementioned other facts.

What's to address? They have absolutely no bearing on the point I'm making.

Even if they kill each other a hundred times the rate the cops do, that doesn't suddenly make it OK for the cops to break the law and become judge jury and executioner.

Nothing I've said would be any different if these had been white people killed, so your "other facts" have no applicability so I ignored them.

More white people are killed by cops in the US than black people.

If you view this as black vs white thing then you're making the situation worse. Plain and simple.
Anyone with a conscience is shocked and appalled by that video - including evil white people.

This post says what I feel. The issue originally is crucial, the violence by the police force is uneducated, barbaric and unnecessary. The issue of guns being so widespread combined with an assumption people are armed and therefore cops use lethal force first then find out later person is unarmed (Or even are but have not yet drawn their weapon in attempt to kill or maim) has been used as an excuse to kill people with no seen attempt at controlling the situation with voice commands or reading the situation...is totally foreign to me.

I get her the big picture of all police overuse of force and deaths of Americans of any background combined would show police brutality and their uncontrolled abuse of power.

When the focus changed from black lives mmatteraddressing the Floyd death and police brutality to a free for all black vs white then the mixed messages from many conversations meant silence and exiting the conversation was the only choice as a white person well aware black lives matter...nothing said at all was taken as it reads , anything said got a keen into abuse due to being white. I don't respond to that or have e edgy for anyone to take out of context intentionally due to their own inability to focus on the issue at hand.

One comment by an African American male fb friend on a fellow white Australian females page (which was expressing shock and anger about Flloyds death like many others) was met with a comment like"Hey don't you have your own white priveleged culture to talk about so you can stop analysing ours?". This was after Flloyds toxicology results somehow got released and before the second (correct) autopsy, I guess the guy was defensive assuming because there was fentanyl and methamphetamine in his system anyone not black would see that as some kind of justification but no one said anything that indicated this at all.

Maybe people did elsewhere, fact is it's a common combo and not a cause or reason to justify anything the police did. Unfortunately because of some u educated comments I guess elsewhere the anger of assuming Flloyd somehow deserved this played out in the wrong arena and as soon as ppl lash out at each other re silly profiling each other the hope of addressing the issue is gone.

I see Americans as Americans, anyone who lives there should be welcome to join in and support BLM as they matter ...the fb bloke who wanted anyone white to butt out ...who did he want to engage with, just black people?

I scrolled on and won't read these things anymore because of that, was not addressed to me but made me think that there's nothing to be said in response to that.

Someone has been murdered so I’m gonna go looting and get me a tv and some air max??
What’s that all about?

From footage seen from the incidents, the looting and violence was prompted by frustration and peaceful protesters coming under attack from police brute force, a lot after dark when it's hard to capture on film, people unarmed and standing peacefully being moved from 1 foot away. Also some agitators who were using the protests as a cover, going along break and entering, people seem to join in and get involved opportunistically.

Some vandals got taken out and given to police by the protesters who were there to protest and did not want the vandalism to be attributed to them.

Police tactics were fucking retarded, peaceful protests mainly turned sour because they can't do anything but smash beyond and fire rubber bullets.

Fuck the police, it's the shitcunts amongst them that make the lot have that reputation and there are good ones around clearly but they don't make headlines.

The night of the atlanta incident, the Wendy's where it happened was torched, and "peaceful" protesters blocked all 12 lanes of I 75. Idiots.

I see a lot of these videos and generally it's a recurring theme. Are the uploaders racist or is there actually an issue with black people disproportionately violently assaulting people?

I believe that most black people in the US hate white people. With good reason. The history of oppression and violence inflicted upon them in unbelievable. This is part of the reason that I have a tendency to avoid black people. I feel that they want to do me harm.

Why good reason? Our ancestors, not us, committed the atrocities. Kickin a dead horse to blame the children for the parents sins. And if truly still oppressed, there wouldnt be cop killing rap songs, BET, Boondocks, to name only a few examples.

Come on. Look at the government. All white.

I could come up with so many examples, but it has been done so many times. Black people do not have equality. They finally got half of a black president, who was very white acting.

I will say though, I miss having a leader capable of empathy and well speaking.
