Jesus christ... watching that video of the cop just mercilessly choking the guy out, while the other cop just stands there and watches.Okay yeah they're fired, great. That's like Catholic priests getting quietly removed for child molestation and facing no criminal charges. I don't care if you're a cop, if you cold-blooded murder someone, you need to face justice. I get that sometimes cops are put in life or death situations and have to kill someone or be killed. But this is so clearly not that. Sickening.
I was wondering how CEP is going when this story broke all over the world.
I have a few questions and maybe you or others can assist here as there's a cultural difference between Australia and the States.
Firstly, when it comes to deaths in an arrest situation or bringing someone under arrest, the use of lethal force via gunfire is last ditch effort and use of non lethal force (tasers) is more common. This is because an independent investigation is publically known to happen and extraordinary amounts of paperwork, witness accounts, footage etc are collected and examined, Police Unions and counsellors work with the officers and families of the deceased as well to examine in infinite detail the events and outcome. All deaths are investigated with Police NOT being at all exempt from murder charges should they be found to have done that. That happens as a matter of course, the officer is suspended with or without pay (I not sure which) to get them some time away from active duty as it would not be a together person on duty at that time anyway.
Firing from the job immediately simply doesn't happen, as the video clearly shows a murder being underway of someone in police care is evidence enough for the immediate arrest of those officers and questioning to begin the process of charging them (and receiving counselling/union /legal representation). From there they would be stood down from active duty but not fired, Police officers have a duty of care and breaching that might end in more charges being laid and are taken seriously enough that it seems lethal force isn't just doled out like it looks America does.
The police should have been taken into questioning and charged with at least grievous bodily harm or similar immediately then charges upgraded so the charges will stick especially as the evidence comes in. Would that have been the one thing needed to avoid so many people just sick of this shit burning down their neighbourhoods?
I watched an analysis of the second autopsy and the metabolites of the fentanyl in George Floyd's system as it breaks down will be the evidence that the heart attack was brought on by asphyxiation/extreme pressure cutting off oxygen to the lungs and the police (all 4 at an earlier point according to the store clerk) sitting on him. The heart muscle simply died from no oxygen as it needs a lot more than other organs to keep pumping.
So the heart attack reason was easy to see, the fent metabolite being in his system showed it had started being excreted and the level of drug in his system was on the decline, he was alert and responsive as opposed to nodding out and not in danger of overdose.
He died in a cruel horrible way by police who did not give a shit at all. Is this because American Police are simply not selected in the first place based upon their character trates/ability to see they have duty of care and do they even get any type of psychological assessment, training, exams to pass whatsoever as that is brutal here and many physically fit bright people who want to join yet do fail time and again to pass these gruelling mental health psychological testing?
What does one have to do to get in the police force there?
Deaths in custody or as a result of arrest at the hand of police or prison staff should not happen and should only occur when there is no other choice such as the offender is going to kill someone else, set a upon a police officer with intent to kill, I don't know if beong armed even is an excuse to just shoot yo kill since gun ownership is a thing there, as Floyd was unarmed , handcuffed and on the ground surrounded by 4 big physically fit men then it shows lack of ability to do their job and lack of want to.
Utterly disgraceful, this really makes the police over there have the reputation they have- shame for the many who are capable to be let down by these 4.
RIP GEORGE FLOYD.
