Silent Witness-Watcher

My heart-breaker ex came over the other week and we ended up kissing when we shouldn't have...

This is what I wrote afterwards.


Dear one you don't know it yet
But I watch over as you sleep
Kiss tired eyelids closed
Stroke pillow-creased skin
Whisper consolations when you cry out
Watch in silent understanding
You are not mine, I would not wish it so
But remember this; I am guardian
Seeing all you've been through
Reflected in changeling green
You will not fall from grace forever
I would give you my wings to fly again
Seperate souls with seperate lives
Yet our dreams aren't so different
Just remember this; I am guardian
Warrior of peace and solace
Exuding comfort and resolution
Throughout your life however lead
The silent witness-watcher
That stands at your shoulder.

Again thank you all for your comments, it was a personal goal of mine to have a poem made 'poem of the week'. I can't believe I've finally done it and it's even more special because I realise that my words must have touched emotions in the people that have read it.
