Hi all <3

Please I need your help to fight a terrible problem that occoured to my girlfriend. Please don't mind my bad english ;) Ok so she's about 22 and we are staying together from about 4-5 years (of course with some bad moments too..). She has a very problematic family situation, with almost no connection with her parents, so it was automatic for her to find in me a great (or maybe the only one) support for her life. 2 months ago I told her I decided to move away for 4 or 5 months to improve my english in UK, finding a job and so on.. She told me it's ok, but I think her mind couldn't really accept this. So days went by and she started to show the first symtomps: vertigo, difficulties staying in crowded places, first panic attacks and stuff like this. As soon as this grew up we started to contact doctors thinking it was only a physical problem. But we understood quickly that all her mind was collapsing into a bigger problem. Nowadays it's about 40 days that all started and the situation is evident: she developed agoraphobia and panic attack disease. Tried all sorts of natural remedies like omeopathics and Bach flowers, but you can imagine how poor the results were. Now she's impossibilitate to move out home without me or a trusted friend, she can't drive and doing no more all the common things she used to do in her normal days. She's absolutely scared about ALL and she's freaking out.

Ok i described the situation and we know she needs a serious support from a Psychologist or a similar specialist. We searched and searched and we understand that Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a must in those cases

BUT

What I'm mainly asking to you is: is there a certain type of psychedelic substance which could make her revive, wash her soul and understand what is the cause of her Fear?

Note she's absolutely not cool about drugs but she's prepared to all if it could help her, cause sometimes she says "it may be better to die instead of feeling this".

I found mushrooms very introspective than, for example, LSD, but I know everyone's different. Maybe an ayauascha wash could bring her some answers? Maybe mescaline? Please I'd like to know if a psychedelic could help her before starting a therapy which may cause her to take pharms like SSRIs... Maybe there's a different way to analyze her mind rather than go to a hospital.

Thank you very very much in advance for your time and your help
We appreciate it much <3<3

im sorry to say that this cant stay in TDS, according to our guidelines...

:-\
drugs ware off, then questions remain. if she is to have any sort of great realization that will stay meaningful, with out any psychedelic drugs would be the most memorable way, i have felt and seen.

Ok so can I post this in Psychedelic Drugs forum?

All the infos that don't regards a psychedelic therapy were already considered.

We need some help from someone who defeated Agoraphobia / Panic Attacks with the help of psychedelics. If this is almost impossible, than we'll be pleased to hear a medical opinion

i have had some awful agoraphobia, and could again im sure... its a delicate situation.

trusted support, time, exposure, acceptance, klonopin, and trusted support is what yanked out of the water.

ill see what they think over there, and maybe a suggestion that seems applicable will come in the mean time...

i feel for you, though time is the key - or ignoring it rather, keep hanging in there and she will too.

ill be back with a response as to the destination of your question.
- respects.

I know, I know...time is the key, but you'll certainly know that the time concept doesn't make sense anymore when all the seconds in your 24 hours are a torture. We know for sure that isn't a problem which is solvable in a week or two, I'm just asking about a way to "see" in depth..

Again excuse my english :\

Hi Special_Needs, I understand your girlfriend's problem and I hope that she can find a solution very soon because it is painful to live like that.
However you need to be extremely careful with psychedlic drugs and anyone who is suffering any type of anxiety. There is a big risk of psychedelic substances actually causing panic attacks, paranoia, anxiety etc, so you really need to decide if it's worth the risk.

Having said that, it COULD help her, and her trip could all go smoothly and she could gain some insight and be able to work through her problems......but you (and her) need to understand that it's very risky and it could have the opposite effect.

Personally, I love psychedelic drugs and have found great therapeutic purposes in them. BUT I also respect that they can have nasty effects in people who are prone to anxiety. I honestly think that it would be safer for your girlfriend to go to her doctor and discuss this with them. If you are really intent on trying a psychedelic drug with her to see if it helps, please choose something that is short-acting, and make sure she only takes a LOW dose.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the the way to go. A year of it helped me immensely.

Also, find a psychologist PhD that does CBT. Not a social worker or someone of the sorts. I personally have wonderful experiences with Psychologists and other therapists are good for different things, not CBT IMO. They don't usually have the extensive training that a psychologist will have. Which usually is like 10 years of studying the mind. Whereas other therapists have single courses on these topics.

Before I did CBT I had horrible anxiety. Loopholes of crazy thoughts. sometimes I felt that I didn't know where I was, things were distorted outside. And more madness.

CBT helped a lot.

I also did LSD at that time and I didn't find it very helpful in what I was experiencing. The psychologist has special techniques they teach to to control your thoughts, that a psychedelic experience will not, I mean it will but not nearly as much as CBT because there isn't as much time in a trip. It takes lots of time for the therapy to be effective, I did twice week for a years and will continue because it made my life better. But the effects are permanent.

And if you decide on LSD or something similar, also do CBT so that she can have the help of a psychologists to integrate her experiences into life. Which is often difficult.

The two together might be just what helps.

Jeez, I remember sometimes driving my car and having to pull over because I felt like I was choking, like I was on a different planet, like I was about to die. Thank god for CBT.

You can't predict with any certainty whether or not a psychedelic experience will benefit her. Of course it's possible. Psychedelics and MDMA have created permanent positive changes in me that will not be undone whether I ever touch any of them again. But it depends on her; how she reacts to the substance and integrates the experience.

MDMA has a history of being used for therapeutic purposes and there are recent studies showing that it has some benefit for people with PTSD. On the other hand, some people do not react well and find that their anxiety/depression gets worse from using it.

It's her decision ultimately. If she decides to go ahead with it she should know that it is a very real possibility that it makes her symptoms worse. Intuition often knows best.

one reason i have stayed away from psychedelics is my mental state. it IS possible to have a good trip, but just as likely to turn on you and make everything worse. i would like to try some one day, but i need a better state of mind to have a beneficial experience in my opinion
