Just had a question hoping someone can help out.. Using tramadol on and off for about a year...kicked that habit and it was a bitch going through withdrawals.. was taking 6 a day..then after loosing someone due to a death, went off the deep end and began using oxycontin for about 5mths at around 40mg daily. Just recently withdrawaled and was on day five clean, but due to SEVERE fibroid pain, I caved and took 20mg. I have another 20mg for tonight. My question is, will I go through withdrawals all over again and be back to square one?? I tried everything to get rid of pain, before caving and going back on oxy, but it is the only thing that works for my particular medical condition:| Until I get a medical proceedure done, the doc says I am pretty much stuck with this pain.. could someone please tell me if my wd is going to start all over again at day one? I am scared.:?

Reusing opioids after overcoming withdrawal from a previous addiction is very likely to trigger some form of withdrawal. The severity of it can only be discovered by you, as many of the factors that involve predicting it are specific to your habit, and your biological make up.

I don't know about what you take but I had a very bad methadone habit (120mls a day), which was hell to come off and then I was prescribed codeine phosphate which I take for arthiritis and pain in my hands. I am supposed to be taking tramadol too but they mong me out and I don't like them. If I run out of codeine, I start feeling the withdrawals within the next day. Usually starts with a tickly cough, sneezes and restless limbs. If your pain is too much for you to manage without oxy, then maybe you should try and take the bare minimum you need to ease the pain. Even if you get prescribed more, try taking it only when really needed. A lot of opiate withdrawal is in the mind too, as well as physical. You have to really want to quit taking them and not replacing them with something else just as bad. There is a website called Daily Strength which have forums for all sorts of illnessess. Maybe you will be able to find others suffering from fibroid pain who could give you better advice? Good luck whatever you decide x
