Ok so I managed to get my hands on a shitload of Dilaudids, all generic brands, all 4mgs & 8mgs. But now all I have left is 15 8mg'ers. I've IM'd Nubain before, no biggie. But I had NEVER IV'ed ANYTHING before tonight. I have to take nine 8mg tablets orally to even get the slightest buzz and that TOTALLY sucks because it's one of those "NASTY" highs. You know, you start to feel it but then it just plateaus out and you never really get there, you just get pissed off?
Well, I read Phreex Guide to IV'ing and that helped me out a hell of a lot. I got up the nerve to try it. Did it in the right wrist, but missed the first time and a teeny bit of blood shot into the rig and all of the area in front of the needle started swelling up real big, real quick! So, I pulled it out and put pressure on it. So I tried another, smaller vein beside that one and I got it straight in. I used an 8mg tablet crushed in 5 units of water, boiled it, did the cotton thing. But NO rush at all! I didn't quite use ALL of the liquid just I'd say 5/8-3/4! So what went wrong? And now my wrist is still aching from the first attempt! A bit swollen too. I've been putting ice on it but the swelling seems the same. Hasn't bled anymore though. So what should I do? I would much rather IV or IM 1-2 8mgs than swallow 9! Any ideas or thoughts? BTW, I've been doing opiates since 1994 for an auto injury. Most days are just to get throogh the pain but some days I'd like to have a bit of extracurricular fun if you know what I mean!!!

Ugh, sounds like you hit the artery in your wrist that first time... this is why I always use arm veins, not the ones at the wrist -- you've got that big fat artery right near the surface of your wrist. You might have just missed a vein though -- that'll cause nasty swelling/aching for a few days.
Dilaudid's aren't more than 5x as potent IV... so if you take 9 tabs swallowed, you're gonna need to IV two. Try that... and make sure you crush/dissolve the tabs thoroughly and hit a vein.

Mucho gracias people! Unfortunately I have my mother's veins...which equals NONE! I can't see any of them! I used all the tricks the nurses did in the hospital: rubbing downward towards the vein, heat and slapping the area. The only thing that came up was those two and the first I couldn't see. I could only feel it. I guess that was an artery?!?! Oops! The second vein I could see but it was tiny. I have NO CLUE as to how I managed to hit it! I'm RIGHT handed but the only vein I could find to shoot was the right wrist!
Any other ideas of good places to hit on ANYBODY? I CAN NOT use my arms due to all of the eyes on me day to day. And how do I get the tabs to dissolve into the saline? Once I heated it above the candle most of the powder rose to the top of the saline, am I supposed to stir it or something? How long do I heat it for? Just enough to boil or boil for a few seconds or what? Do I still use 5 units of saline for two 8mg crushed D's or what?
Anymore suggestions for the *green* chick?
BTW, the swelling went down but my wrist still hurts. Thanks for the replies!

Never having shot Dilaudids, I can give you only limited advice. First, I'd definitely use a full cc, especially when shooting two pills -- you're shooting into a vein, more liquid doesn't hurt. Make sure to crush to tabs quite finely and mix them thoroughly. I only heat my solutions for a few secs (mainly to help sterilize), but a couple cycles of mixing/heating may help. Also, you should consider switching to sterile water instead of saline -- it might make it easier to dissolve the hydromorphone.
As far as finding veins, two tips that are I find very very useful: exercise your arms before shooting. Get something heavy and do some regular curls and wrist curls... if you use a heavy weight, this will raise your veins tremendously. Second, dangling your arm below your body for a minute or two helps too. Make sure it's below your torso and legs, and it should fill with blood, making your veins larger.
Good luck,
Zorn

I second the hanging the limbs over furniture.
One of my favorite tricks is to put a surface like a book (wiped with alcohol first, of course) at the foot of my bed to put my loaded rigs on. Then I lay flat on my bed (belly down) and dangle my arms down over the railing at the end which pushes up against my armpits and causes my veins to bulge.
Then I choose an arm and grab a needle and bam.
It's a little awkward at first since you more or less end up shooting upside down (you'll have to hang your head straight down most likely in the process), but after a few times it becomes completely comfortable (hey, when you're shooting opiates, anything you associate with it becomes a good thing) and it's also highly efficient.
This method will put a tourniquette to shame.

drop some bodyfat and those veins will come out of the woodwork/skin!!!!
yep, like said above, working out with weights(barbell curls/chinups/shrugs) helps bring out your veins very much...
