I was on suboxone (about 4mg) for 6-8 months. The last month or two I got down to about 2MG, then the last week to week and a half I got down to about .75mg.

My last dose of suboxone was 9 days ago, (today is Friday) - so last Wednesday was the last dose. On the following Saturday I had my birthday party which had been planned and I did not want to feel like shit, I ended up taking a MS 60. Sunday I woke up and great pain and saw a doctor and ended up going to the emergency room for moderate pancreatise. I was given 1 shot of 100mg Demoral on Monday, and another shot of 100mg Demoral on tuesday. I was also prescribed Hydrocodone 10mg - which I've only taken 3 of. The last one (only a half, which is 5mg) I took was yesterday (Thursday) at 8am.

My question is: I have to be back at work and functioning properly or I cannot operate with what I do. I''m wondering if I stay strong and clean of the hydro's until Monday, will I be feeling better?

If anyone has any experience or knowledge on this matter I would greatly appreciate it. I want to be done with this crap and I'm willing to go through the pain, but if I continue to miss work (starting monday) - I will lose my job.

Thanks you for your time.

the more time that goes by the better you will feel. So by monday you will be feeling better. Dunno enough to want to work, but work sucks in general lol.

In my experience hydros are one of the easiest opiates to come off of. How do you feel right now? If you took 5mg yesterday at 8am I would expect that it's already mostly out of your system. Being that it was a really low dose of hydro, which isn't really a strong opiate, I would imagine that the withdrawals would be mild. It seems that you tapered well, even if that wasn't your intention. If I were coming off of H, for example, 3 days would be just about when the withdrawals would subside totally and I would start feeling normal again. So to answer your question directly I would say- Yeah, if you stay off of the hydros and don't drag out the detox period you should be fine by Monday. Hell, you should be fine tomorrow or Sunday but everyone is different. The biggest thing is to stay strong and just be patient.

Did you have WD symptoms up till you got the shots & hydros? Are you experiencing WD right now? If so I would save whatever you got for when you have to be at work.

I think that would only lead to dragging out the opiate addiction even further, eventually you would run out of hydros and feel like shit and have to go to work again and then end up getting more hydros, or more likely something stronger and then you're right back in the same boat you just spent 6-8 months trying to get out of. Yeah, it would be a way to guarantee that you didn't feel like shit at work but if your intention is to get sober you're at a great place to do it right now. You have a couple free days and your last dose was super low (probably less than the .75 mgs of sub you were taking), and they don't have a half-life of 72 hours so it won't be so drawn out like sub w/d, seize the opportunity. Having an opiate around, even hydros, would be enough for me to fool myself into thinking I could get high off of them, if you're really serious about getting clean I would give them to a trusted (non-addict) friend to hold or sell them or just get rid of them, but perhaps you're a stronger person than I am. Either way I wish you good luck.

Hi there. I think your incredibly brave!! You knew u had a problem yet took the pain killers anyway. You still have that craving in you or at least your mind does. I'm really proud that you have such a strong motivation to be clean. You are just remembering the past and bracing for the worst. You don't sound sick you sound worried about a relapse. Already thinking about not getting high and messing up at work. But how do you REALLY feel? Are you sick? Worried? Look into your body and see what it's telling you. Don't listen to your mind or look into the past. I hope u get what I'm saying. I think your going to be fine since you have such a strong conviction!!

The longer you go without the better you should feel.
Exercise can help and accelerate that process.
It's best to not get in the habit of telling yourself you're just going to use to get though work, as the tendency is to get strung out then. If you're dealing with chronic pain issues you try using yoga( it worked for me as well as the opiates for chronic construction labor related back pain). If that doesn't work, a maintenance dose of buprenorphine can be quite effective even in doses as low as .5mg a day, and the lower doses don't have that severe of an abstinence syndrome and are relatively inexpensive as well as easier to get scripts.
If you just feel like it's too soon and want some kind of pharmaceutical bridge try ibuprofen with loperamide, but don't use the loperamide too long as it can cause withdrawals too. They are both over the counter though and inexpensive and helpful for short term.

Thanks for the response guys, I'm felling a bit better today and I'm not looking for a way to get high, or I would of eaten the codones.. I want to get away from these devilish drugs and move on with my life. I appreciate the responses and I'm going to stick with being sober one way or another.

Again thanks!

If it helps this is my 4th day coming off Buprenorphine which I tapered down fast to 0,4mg and I feel a slight improvement of the symptoms.
Sleep is still fucked which plays the most on me but it wasn't as sweaty and short as the days before.
You will get better and if your intentions are solid, stay that way.

I'm on day 2 WD suck! I have taken 30-100 mg of hydrocodone/vikaprofen/lorcet etc almost daily off and on for about 8 months. It's so DAMN expensive I had RLS so bad last night. Can't sit still...trying to clean and busy myself. Good luck to you all!
