Playstation 4 Development 'Under Way'

it's true! when i concentrate and stroke my chin like real hard, i get this picture in my head which like says "money grab"!! gosh you think it could like fully mean something youguys?
 
Wouldn't a more effective money grab be to just release new titles on the PS3 while Microsoft goes ahead with the decision to develop the shit out of a system and then lose money on every unit sold for a while?

PS3 has superior capabilities. The only thing I can think of being a major reason for developing a new, ultra-powerful console is the additional processing power needed to have 3D games that are badass (and designed to be 3D).
 
^ It seems that major console developers consider it an unwritten rule to release console upgrades at roughly the same time.


I can't imagine that game developers have already mastered the full potential of this wacky seven-core architecture, or whatever it is. New releases on even the humble 360 are still looking better and better.
 
Yeah, I thought about that right after I posted lol. It's a "staying relevant" thing, which will be hard to break people out of (and bad for the way our economy is designed).

With regard to the crazy PS3 hardware, I think this might be a lesson - don't over-develop or overpower a system if there's really no way to predict how much of it past a certain point developers are even capable of using economically. It's all about economics - the discerning gamer/hardware enthusiast is no longer the market's core.
