I'm in a weird situation where my broke ass is a landlord for a property I really can't afford without tenants who pay their rent, so of course the last two have left us high and dry. Thought these last guys would work out, young married couple, make a lot more money than me, small children hell I'd rent to them before I rent to myself.
So of course everything is great for two months then they start having every disaster known to man befall them and fall behind on rent, and last month I had to hound their asses until the 15th till I got even partial rent, let alone fucking electric A smarter man would of cut his losses and evicted them then. Lots of apologies a new job and wouldn't you know then they split up, whatever. I bug dude on the 2nd, says he gets paid Friday. Dude takes off and I have not seen him since. My car needs fixed, and I can't do any christmas shopping until that's taken care of and I can't do any of that until I have their rent, everything I got is going to the owner now.
Their dog though was inside and barking and I figured the bastard at least left food and water for the poor dear, and waited until today to call the cops file a report and see wtf. This was wrong. Dog was locked in the bathroom with not even an empty food dish and the toilet lid down so it couldn't even get a drink. Some piss in the tub, but no poop, barely able to stand and terrified. Fuck them. Fuck them so hard. Fire dpt is pissed, sheriff just wanted to go home, but took a report.
I can't send this dog to the pound as she's emaciated and fearful and would just be put down. So now I got the last thing I need, a giant-ass, starving, lanky black lab puppy to join my three other dogs. It's kinda hard to introduce a new dog that's both bigger and younger than everyone else, but I think me and Tam can make it work.
I'm gonna call her Gangles, and she is very sweet. Merry Christmas.

Another problem is dude is an unstable military dude going through a divorce and a drunk with a loaded sawed off shotgun in his night stand. I'm thinking I could win along this lines of something like small claims court then wage garnishment and also a informative letter to his Commanding officer. All after he gets his shit (other than the dog, no way in hell will I let him get her) out.

Shit, I'm not going to be able to fix my car for months now. I fucking hate this.

Damn, sounds like a bad situation man.
Good on you for looking after the dog though. She's lucky you found her.

Yeah, the worst is over for Gangles and that's a good thing. She's having some trouble digesting food which is to be expected after four days of no food and water, but at least the food is mostly going back out the correct end now. Normally fill up the water once a day, filled it up 4-5 times since last night and all the toilets are drank empty, but all and all she seems like she'll get healthy quickly. Think she's going to be hyper as fuck once that happens.

The whole situation is weird and untrustworthy but dude got in touch this morning with a plausible story with a working timeline and apologized and said he'd take care of half of the money on Friday morning, and was okay with us looking after the dog. So I guess I'll have a better idea of what to believe on Friday afternoon.

Nah Tinker, Gangles is our dog now. I'll forgive the husband if he sticks to his word, but they are evicted and the dog is ours. It's been verified that the wife was the last person in there so she's my problem now.
I don't think they are going to do anything stupid. The sheriff took a report, fire chief was more fighting mad than me, and we have photos. Might stiff me on the money and leave their mess but that would be worst case at this point.

And they didn't even do that. Dude did what he said he would and made half right on his outstanding debt, and didn't resist us taking care of the dog, so no grudges and everything is working out, awesome.
Gangles is happy anyway and getting healthy.

Aw, she's gorgeous! Those eyes <3
How a person could be so callous as to abandon such a beautiful creature, i will never understand.

You sound like a good person, golem. Much respect sir.
I hope your financial situation improves, but whatever happens - i'm sure the new addition will give you heaps of love.
