whats with all the rumors of piracetam being banned in the States?
is this true or just a scheme :\

They are false at this point though there have been letters by the FDA to various companies supplying piracetam saying it does not qualify as a dietary supplement so they are selling their stock - I imagine it will slip back into being a bulk chemical like it started.

They can ban it from supplements but they can not ban it entirely unless they schedule it or prove that it is unsafe. What they CAN do is prevent it from being sold as a dietary supplement. In other words, the places selling it could not also post information about any possible health benefits or health claims like some sites have been doing.

From what I understand it is being banned from being sold as a 'dietry suppliment' it will still be available under another name though. For it to be classed as a 'dietry suppliment' it must contain at least one 'dietry ingredient'.

Heres a letter sent by the FDA to a shop selling it

In short, the answer is no -- Piracetam is not banned and will not be banned any time soon.

A letter was sent to someone by a distributor that received a letter by the FDA. The FDA often flexes their muscle like this, but I just received an order from Amazon.com without any difficulties (ie today). This rumour is based in truth, but has been watered down and exagerated into a flat out inaccuracy.

Piracetam is not banned and will more than likely not be banned in the United States for some time to come. It is not recreational and has nothing but positive uses (with no negative consequences). The FDA would have a hard time rationalising such a ban.

Even were such a ban to go through, it could still be imported completely legally from other countries as it would not make it onto any scheduling list. There are many drugs (cyproterone acetate, an androgen blocker, comes to mind) that are not approved by the FDA and "banned" in the USA that can be shipped in from foreign countries with no risk of seizure by customs.

In theory a ban as a 'dietry suppliment' would be very easy to achieve - the product doesnt contain any vitamins or anything like that.

All that would happen is the product would be branded as something else - natural rememdy for instance covers a whole range of products that contain no dietry suppliments (same as a lot of the more obscure vitamins and minerals being sold around the place).

Damn got to buy that Piracetam I need ASAP... I don't want to risk a rise in the price due to some regulation.

If anything, I've seen prices go down, not up- I guess they are trying to move it out quicker. You can relax, its not a scheduled drug- you will still be able to find it with a detailed Google search :)

From what I understand, it's highly unlike that the FDA will completely ban Piracetam in the USA, as I understand some people with AIDS use it to improve their quality of life and the US government has is aware of this fact so they go easy with the restrictions. I know this sounds very vague, but I'll try and dig up something more legitimate sounding.

The current scare is primarily related to how vendors market their products and not Piracetam itself.

It's ridiculous how something harmless like Piracetam is considered to be not usable for human consumption, while benzos and oxy are just OKAY.

I stocked up too out of fear- but the reality is, you can buy a lot of stuff on the internet that you shouldn't be able to- it stands to reason that piracetam will still be sold by some sites if you just do a more thorough search.
