I was just wondering about what effects pill binders and fillers do to the body and other ingredients in the pills.

Some things that concern me:

Talc

Titanium dioxide

Magnesium stearate

Cetostearyl alcohol

zein

Povidone

Tragacanth

Red/yellow iron oxide

Hypromellose

and many, many more.

Talc is of concern to me, as well as titanium dioxide, as they are in almost all of my medications and supplements. Wouldn't talc give someone alzheimers?

It is always good to do some research on whatever you are going to put into your body. Although there has to be research done on these drugs in order for them to be approved by the FDA for distribution, there are plenty of drugs that are later recalled for various health and safety concerns.

I haven't heard of talc causing Alzheimers disease, but it may cause pulmonary problems if the pills it is found in are "snorted," since some of the powder may make it into the lungs. The titanium dioxide may also cause health problems when "snorted" since when its dust is inhaled it has the possibly of being a carcinogen.

I am not familiar with the other pill ingredients, but from what I have said so far, these pills are a lot more dangerous when they are taken in ways other than orally.

Yeah, unless you are snorting, smoking, taking an overwhelmingly high volume of pills, or allergic to any of these ingredients, you will be fine.

Thank you guys, as you've said for the the other ROA, would snorting the pills bypass all the mechanisms to keep dust out? I was reading a little bit on this myself and it appears that in not inhaling, 99-100% of the dust doesn't reach the lungs. So would snorting lightly instead of deeply save you from the risks, or at least a lot? I know a lot of people say they breath it in, but when I get the chance to see them snort, they are going way too hard at it.

Aside all of that, would you say normal ingestion of the these things is harmless?
