For the past month or so I have been using about 1-2 grams of ketamine a day. I have been attempting to ease off of it but find that I have a very bad hangover if I dont have a little once a day. Is their anything I could do to help easy the muscle pain/ cramps?w

There is really nothing you can do for the cramps except to immediately cease your use of ketamine as 'K-cramps' are kidney related. You are damaging your kidneys slowly and the window for kidney disease to reverse is narrow. If you have muscle pain try tolperisone, carisoprodol, meprobamate or chlorodiazepoxide. These muscle relaxants can only be obtained with a medical prescription. However, if you are in Canada or the United States or maybe europe, you can find an effective muscle relaxant called methocarbamol. It is usually sold in preperations with acetominophen.

Ketamine bladder syndrome is a newly discovered consequence of long term use and withdrawal. Ketamine damages the bladder, causing ulcers, as well as fibrosis; stiffening of the bladder walls. Symptoms include pelvic pain, blood in the urine and needing to pee hundreds of times a day.

Heavy users complain of severe abdominal pain when coming off ketamine and describe the sensation as 'having hot knives stabbed into your kidneys'. Sufferers may turn to opioids to deal with their discomfort.
Here is a case report in a case of dependence and withdrawal
.

These are studies in regards to dependence and withdrawal:

Good luck

This is purely speculative, I have never tried it because I simply have not been addicted to ketamine. I know someone who was, who claimed rubbing teatree oil around the affected area eased some of the discomfort. She snorted her K and it ripped her nose up pretty good and she had sores underneath her nostrils (probably HCL burns) She also claimed that teatree oil took care of this.

Worth trying, but as I am sure you know, it is time to cut back or retire on the K.

It bums me out to know of people becoming addicted to this chemical and causing them problems. It has only made my life better through occasional use.

2 grams of ketamine a day definitely doesn't sound good, especially as the K hole can be achieved with 250mg (source: Erowid).

Chromophobia's post on kidney damage are most likely the problem so it would be advisable to taper down or stop as soon as possible and get your kidneys checked by a doctor.

Wouldn't this be dangerous if he has kidney damage?

EDIT: Sorry, I'm wrong there. I'm thinking of liver damage.

Even though the underlying issues behind 'K-cramps' are not fully understood, some case studies suggest that it tied to the bladder and kidneys or more specifically polycystic kidney disease. Even though I recommended muscle relaxants, and users may report muscular pain, in reality ketamine abuse and muscular problems have no relation.

The classification of ketamine-associated ulcerative cystitis has recently been established, however the etiology and treatments of ‘K-cramps’ are still unknown. Nevertheless, it seems to be a prevalent symptom which may represent a broader public health concern if the use of ketamine continues to increase.
