PHISH: Official summer tour thread

speaking of phish playing dead....i was at the following show. one of my better phish experiences ever. however, i got fucking arrested for some weed and L on the way to irvine, two days after the show. spent 3 days in LA County with tickets to the next 3 shows just sitting in the glove box of my car. i'm feeling super nostalgic. i want to go on tewr. right now.

at the end of yem they set up 3 trampolines and phil came wondering out on stage, instead of doing the standard vocal jam they did a bass dual. phil tried to keep up on the trampoline, but got hit by a glowstick and gave up. the viola encore with warren is where da gold at. i know there's some youtubes of this one. you can find em.

Cold Rain and Snow and Viola Lee Blues were both Phish debuts. YEM did not contain a vocal jam. The subsequent jam out of YEM comprised of solely Mike and Phil Lesh.

all these shows you rave about chicken, are shows that are primarily missing the 10-15 or so phish songs i actually like

the rest of them bore the hell out of me, trust me i've tried

i'd love to hear then play a cold rain and snow, one of my favorite jerry songs for sure and it's weird how nobody can play that opening riff like jerry, despite it seeming so simple

thanks dude, listening to it now, sounds like an aud recording, but headphones are in....sounds good musically, but stfu phil

and sweet i see a link for a PL&F w/trey row jimmy, i fucking love row jimmy more than any other dead head i've ever met

to me peggy-o is the only shitty slow, first set jerry song, and everyone loves it, i don't get it

these are the best shows of all time.

i admire your passion for critiquing shows

i'd love to hear your top 100(no order) list of dead shows

in the approp. thread

i just don't dig PL&F cause there are no bobby songs, and you know i feel about them

i wonder if it's cause bobby doesn't want him to play them or phil doesn't want to play them, or both

i'm not as good with dead trivia. i was at one point, but i forget all the dates and shit of my favorite shows.

i'm gradually losing my rain man type skills

ekoostik hookah is my new fantasy, i listen to them every fucking day, abuse shows till death cause they are the baddest band in the land

you really need to check them out man, they are not the same band they were in the 90s, or even prior to 2010

since they've replaced their rythm guitar and bass player that have turned into a band that makes me burst out laughing, frequently, because i can't believe what i'm hearing

so many of their songs sound dark and are volcanic, ala the end of morning dew or the music never stopped....wild fanning and just all around hectic good times

you'll lose them eventually....the old phrase, "i've forgotten more dead than you'll ever know"...is beginning to make sense. i haven't listened to the hooka since the 90's. will check it out.

how about you actually do it this time?

they have a festival coming up this weekend, and the recordings should be soundboards and more than likely posted by monday

90% of thier shows are taped and posted at LMA and i love them for that, they really are heavy rock n roll improv, every recording is like a new album for me

i'm going to make sure i PM you the links

the most recent show i've heard from them was from march 9th and holy dickens, were they cooking

with the exception of like 2 songs, they don't play psychedelic jams, their songs that are 15+ minutes are typically rockin out with your cock out

youtube is blocked at work for me, so i can't see this. i'm pretty sure it's just audio and not video. don't think i've ever seen a video of it before. crank it to 11.

At about 6:28 my love light was turned on
That was gewd

Sucks you bailed out off the tour like a pussy fagget :[

I really enjoy hearing individual stories of particular good nights and epic shows, be it from you or anyone else though

Man, I just cranked that for the first time in a minute. I still got the chills. I mean, Jerry had only been dead for 3 years, and phish had just REALLY blown up in the past year. They had dead heads following them at that point, but wanted their own identity, so this was really unexpected. Of course, Trey doesn't do the vocals justice, but it was pretty special. Reminds me of a different time when life was more simple for me, and shit like phish playing terrapin station was a really big deal for my life. I don't know, times have obviously changes a lot, but those little musical moments were what I chased for so many years. Now, with a kid and real job and taxes and all that other bullshit, some band covering a dead tune seems pretty small in the grand scheme of things, but looking back on the memories makes me happy I got to experience a lot of cool shit. Fuck me, I'm gaying out hard right now. I have a lot of awesome tewr stories. I think I'm gonna crack another beer and fag out to that shoreline 99 show. I'll probably cry.

CS this is a lot to take in all at once. I appreciate the effort & hard work. I will start doing my homework :)

Anybody catching Phish this summer?

I'll be at the two AV shows and all nights of Atlantic City, which I can't wait for. I've seen shows since '95 and did tours in '97,98,99 and 00. Now I just skip around and see the places that I have the must fun at. For older tour kids: do you still see a lot of shows with 3.0? All iterations of fans are welcome, I was just curious about the new grandfather section I'm moving into with my tour generation.

"Looking for owls?" the young man asked
Hoping to lighten the tension
And the scowl he received as his only reply
Made him smile as he relived the mention

And the coward fool walked on alone
Quite proud of the fear he instilled
And later they found him, tied to a log
Bent over and buffalo billed

yeah i was really hoping to catch at least one of the alpine shows, but the dates are conflicting with electric forest... decisions, decisions

I see probably 2 shows a year now. Have a blast and think they're playing well, I just don't have much time to see a bunch of runs anymore. FYI...... We have a pretty solid phish thread on this page.

rumor mill, but this guy is usually pretty accurate:

8/17-8/18 Bill Graham, San Fran
8/20 Hollywood Bowl, LA
8/22 The Zoo, OK City

8/24 Time Warner Amp, Charlotte, NC
8/25 Lakewood, Atlanta, GA
8/26 Oak Mtn Pelham, AL
8/28 Toyota Park, Bridgeview, IL
8/29 Verizon Wireless, St Louis, MO
8/31-9/2 Dicks, Commerce City, CO

I doubt I will be able to see the Hollywood Bowl show as much as I would love to, but The OKC Zoo, and Oak Mountain should be amazing.

i was pretty close. i'm 100% in for oak mtn>atl. i haven't been to oak mtn in 11 years.
