First time I took phenibut I believe I took like 3gms.
All I know is I had a 10gm bag and took almost 1/3 of it.
And that shit knocked me on my ass almost like a soma. But it wasn't quite as enjoyable as soma
and was a lot more "sloppy". I was dizzy, tired, tripping over everything, and remember sleeping
for about 12 hours straight.
When I woke up, I still couldn't walk straight, and felt like a zombie.
The following day I took about 1.5gms, and that felt much better.... but overall it wasn't really
something I'd consider "recreational". It was a weird type of sleepy / disoriented feeling.
But here is the catch. A while later, I tried phenibut again, I bought it from the same exact
supplier, and that time it didn't do shit. So I concluded that not all phenibut batches are created
equally. This was suppose to be a guy who was testing his stock, but a lot of times vendors use
that as a sales tool. And they just rubber stamp batches w/out actually testing them.
Proper testing takes time and money (afaik) and I know rubber stamping is rampid even in the
supplement industry. Its very hard to regulate. So when it comes to outfits like the ones that
sell phenibut in bags, or kratom, I often question how vigorous / reliable their testing procedures
really are.
I do microbial testing for a living (testing for toxic microbiological compounds) and it takes a lot
of time and money just to test 1 sample. It makes me very skeptical towards the integrity of not
just kratom / kanna / phenibut suppliers, but the entire supplement industry as a whole.
Like I've taken passion flower before from GNC and it did absolutely nothing.
Then I've bought fresh flowers from a random guy on ebay, and the shit knocked me on my ass.
It felt like a natural valium.
I've bought so many different batches of kanna, some work, a lot don't.
I've bought many batches of kratom in my life, and quality seems to change like the weather.
So when it comes to phenibut, I'd assume its a similar situation. You really have to ask yourself
a few basic questions.
1) How is the vendor testing his stock? Does he test 10kg at a time, 1kg, etc etc?
2) If the vendor is short on time, and extremely busy, doesn't that create incentive
to get the product to market, and alter testing protocol? (to expedite the process?)
I know this happens in my industry a lot. And noone frowns upon it.
3) There are actually 100 questions you can ask regarding basic methodology.
Like the interaction between the wholesaler and vendor. If the product is tested
by both. If there is proper oversight during testing. Are they using the right equipment?
Do they know how to use the right equipment the right way?
In the end, the supplement industry, vitamin industry, ethnobotanical industries are
all non-regulated. So you really have no idea what you are taking.
I first noticed how severe this was when I started buying supplements from GNC.
Stuff like skullcap, damiana, passionflower, valerian root etc etc... none of it ever
did shit for me. But when I'd buy these herbs fresh, from smaller vendors, in bags
instead of bottles, a lot of times they'd work and I'd think "THATS what xxxx herb
is suppose to feel like!" It would feel just like reports on erowid say.
Moral of the story. If its not regulated by the FDA, theres a solid chance that
batches will vary, vendors will vary, testing procedures, reliability, everything
you can think of.
