I cant remember where but i was reading an article on how going 2-3 days without sleep can put you into a creative manic state, and can have other health benefits, mostly mental.
obviously this shouldn't be done too much, and it shouldn't be done with the aid of stimulants, but i think im gonna try it.
When i have a few days to do it. probably next week.
anyone have any experience with this?

I find I do my best work when I pull all nighters.

I've wanted to try alternative sleep cycles to see if I become more alert, but unfortunately my work schedule gets in the way :|

Yes its true sometimes ...... If you haven't stayed up in a long long time, and have a routine you've been following for months or years (the longer the better) ... a change up in sleeping regimen can induce incredible creativity ... for me its like manic , frantic gushing creativity , almost so powerful its hard to capture or organize or make sense of (at least artistically, like capturing it)

I'm a musician, and many times I would stay up all night alone or with my band mate(s) working on a song and we'd be on such a roll that we'd write the whole song and set about recording it... only we'd get into the next day and lose interest in the recording phase and go back to writing another song.. and pretty soon we'd have written 3-4 new songs with lyrics and everything but not have recording a thing. When I would get into that state, it was so easy to write entire songs in 15 or 20 mins, and because I can't read/write music I'd just record a video on my cell phone of myself singing the song while playing my acoustic or piano.

Almost every single tune I've written came out of this sort of process... it got to the point where I'd be able to predict when I could go into the mania state, or identify when I was in a successful manic-creative state, and I'd usually just setup 2-3 camcorders/webcams around the room and capture the entire night on film .

Do you still take drugs? or stay up? You probably can, it just takes a certain amount of "i don't fucking care" attitude and try to have fun with some friends and make music. If you were born with the talent , you can probably get it back, just sharpen that skill sword.

It depends upon what you're doing. In college I would stay up all night and write very long research papers, and I just would drink a lot of black tea, and then turn the paper in, eat some food, go home, and crash.

I'm not sure about staying up for days, but if i stay up later into the night and early morning my creativity surges..

I spend time writing and i can't do this at all during the day.. daytime is like one enormous mental block, as night falls i can feel my mind clearing up and if i push past the initial stages of feeling tired i can usually get into the zone i want to be in and writing becomes very fluid and effortless. Often i will go back the next day and re-read what i wrote and wonder how the fuck i managed such a clear and concise way of describing the topic i was writing about.

It feels like my mind creates new pathways between neurotransmitter networks, because i start using words that i would of never thought to use.. like how did i even know to use that word let alone know that it was the right word to use in that context, and at the same time im thinking of new ideas that are rapidly expanding into more ideas and i can barley keep up with it..
