:? Hi I haven't posted for a while but I wanted to know a good opinion about how the hell I get on stage. I am a performer (intense break dancing for those that don't call it bboying.) I have Derilin (propanolol), Clonazepam and I have done all the relaxation sorts on this planet bar a couple like crystal and transcendental meditation. I Am loosing it every few minutes wondering if I just take it easy out now and not wake up tomorrow thus avoiding all the rest of the shit in my life at the same time not having to do the show that I have worked so long for? what the heck is wrong with me?
From the small info I have given any tips on what to take tomorrow or tonight it's 8:30pm here, show is on at 3pm tomorrow. I feel alone and it's not just some dance show it's really important, I have only just recovered from injury and that makes me feel nervous as well.
What do I take and when? btw will energy drinks help or not during the show?
Any help much needed. I am loosing my head.
Peace, KW

Go in with a completely clear head, this is a scary notion but is actually the best, I've found.
Focus on the performance and be 'live'. If it were a speech, I'd say make clear guidelines but speak the sentences from top of head. Reciting a memorized speech or reading from a pre prepared essay seems to heighten and draw out the anxiety.
In your case, you may know the routine, but let each movement belong to the moment, don't let yourself woodenly reinact your practice sessions.
Get some sleep, your training and talent will be there for you on the morning. Let them carry you, and you may surprise yourself by actually enjoying it once you get going.
You are going to be fine. Let your passion take over and see how fast anxiety becomes elation! I'm excited for you :)

try to visualize the whole experience in your head. Picture going there, performing, and the feeling afterwards. I wouldn't take clonazepam as it can mess up your cognitive function which i think would be a problem during your performance. Propranolol is often used for stage fright but the low blood pressure may not be great in your case either. It's also perfectly normal to feel a bit excited or even anxious about doing something like this, so you can try to reassure yourself that this is normal and it will pass. IME as soon as you start performing the anxiety eases and turns into a great feeling.

Sometimes it just feels better to force yourself into it knowing that it will feel even better when it's over. Maybe you can talk to someone you know who has gone through a similar performance or has done something in front of a large crowd and ask how they got through it, if not just talking to someone about why you feel nervous will help.

i'd say no to energy drinks, maybe go for a small run or a nice walk tonight and that will calm you down and clear your head.

I can speak from experience (Went to the British academy of new music in Stratford to study, before that believe it or not the YMCA had a music course when I was expelled from school) and once you get up there, and perform, you will wonder why it was so quick and want to do it again!

It is a rush, not caused by drugs, and I am certain that once you have done it, you will wonder what the worry was. The audience is there to enjoy it, and I bet you will feel so good once you have done it!

Just step on stage and perform. The stage is a special place because those precious moments you spend there with others are like no other waking moments. Walk on with your eyes open and"the show" in your heart and let the part take you away.

Drugs are not really needed. You will be producing plenty of adrenaline which is just what you need.

And the music played the Band...

That's where you want to land

Thank you. It's good to hear from experience. I'm getting better. In fact I have lost the worry of it because it's something I love. A passion in my heart. I will keep performing, teaching etc. I feel like if I get on stage I'll be strong and feel like throwing my freestyle set down. I feel better about entering circles. I have found comfort instead of unrelenting anxiety. BL has helped me more than anything else. I thank each and every one. Much love.

propranolol is what works for me. long time stage performer
