the other day a friend of mine showed me a few new pills he had.when i looked closely i saw there was a hair pressed intoit.it definetly wasnt stuck on the pill.i was just wondering if the police got hold of this pill(not possible mysteriosly dissapered)would they take it out and do test's on the hair 2 see who the guy is who is pressing these pills?btw the pills where white/cream alien heads:
-there was a score on the back
-it was an actual alien head not the bad boy press that look similar(this has an outline of head
every 1 who has had them say there good
8/10 pills
thanx

I have no idea if the police obtained that particular pill whether a DNA test would be carried out on the hair pressed in the pill. It seems a one-in-a-million shot to me, but anything is possible these days - computers have very long memories!

BigTrancer :)

but if it was a pill in a bust of say 150000 pills?would they consider doing it then?

i reckon they would. why not it would lead the cops to the big guys.
also but, when you see on the news how the cops seize like 1000000 pills or some bullshit number like that, i doubt they look closely at EVERY SINGLE PILL!!! that would take ages. they would probably pick out funny lookin ones but who would notice a tiny hair in a pilll out of thousands of the fuckers?

yeh but it could happen.i guess they should b more careful.wear a hat or someshit mister pill presser.

yeah for petes sake lets see some workplace health and safety in the drug business!! hair nets, aprons, gloves.... people are going to be EATING these things, how about some hygene people!

It could be argued that the owner of the hair was not involved in Manufacture of the drug and was simply near a person who subsequently procceded to press pills in the same cloths or something. If you had enough money Im sure you could find a lawyer who made it sound convincing. Especialy if they identified the person years later with no connection to a drug bust.

On the other hand do laws exist in regards to taking and storing DNA evidence in relation to crimes that the DNA may be connected to with a reasonable amount of doubt?

I think it may be useful if the actual presser had been caught and then they could have something to compare the DNA to. Just extracting the DNA from the hair wont tell you exactly who the person is. It may give a result such as, the particualr DNA belongs to 1 out of 40,000 members of a particualr community. Nothing is concrete.

fuck in heaven

why would the police go to expense and bother? If they had just "found" 100,000 pills then i am sure there would be far more practical, and better, evidence avaliable for the police to a) find the people involved and b) secure a conviction.

DNA evidence would be more likely to be used in violent crimes like murder and rape.

Or perhaps it was from the drug producer's dog, also out in the ol' rusty shed at the time, and having a good ol' scratch in the dirt next to the ol' clanging pill press 8(

Everything about such a find is pure speculation. There's no way I could see the police doing a hair inspection and DNA profiling even if it was human. Too much cost for the odds IMO, and as mentioned they already have a fat charge or 2.

Just remember that drugs/ pills are often made in such environments. Why?

A) ETHICS

Because many producers couldn't give a fuck about the wellbeing of users. Simple. Money alone is at the centre of this great pursuit.

B) STEALTH

In the bush with a generator, old farm sheds and ware-houses would all make good cover for such an operation. Dirt or a dirty environment adds to this. Noise, smoke and fumes etc from such a site would not be so likely to raise an eye of suspicion and from a distance could well be seen as a typical industry or farming related operation.

It would be nice to think pills are usually made in sanitized white rooms containing no glassware (only plastic to avoid glass from a breakage getting into a tablet mix). The room would also have air filtering to less than 1 micron.

A place where all operators wear lab coats, gloves, hair nets and face masks. Each product batch is tumbled and each tablet passed through physical tests (shape) that pick up odd sizes, hairs etc.

A place where any major contaminant such as a hair would not only be spotted, but the source would also be thoroughly investigated.

This pharmaceutical type environment sounds wonderful, but alas, MDMA & other drugs that are easily made in less than optimum conditions, will likely stay in the "wood-shed" for a while yet. Sure, there's undoubtedly those who take more care, but I believe these to be very few and far between, more likely producing for small circles of friends. At present however, as I see it, the majority of producers/ importers-repressers in this country have little need for cleanliness, and even less cause for concern on issues of quality control and user wellbeing. The unspoken ethic being something like:

"If it works and makes money -and you get away with it - the rest don't matter" Mmm...tis much the same for many legit capitalist ventures....

The deterrent effect of "the mystery hair"

As a little side story; several years ago a close friend bought some hash which he knew to be from India. After smoking it for a week or so he found what appeared to be a hair in a piece. He knew the hash had been brought into Aus via a swallowed condom and just couldn't get it out of his head that the hair may have come from the smuggler's arse. The repulsion-paranoia got so bad he gave the rest away =D

You can only get DNA from the cells at the root of a hair. The hair itself contains no DNA. Therefore, it is unlikely that the piece of hair would have come from the root and not further up the hair.

If they did get DNA from the hair it could be matched to a person's in a DNA database. Of course that means the person who left the hair must have had their DNA taken previously and most likely live in the area where the test was done. Same country at least as agencies would not attempt, I doubt, to compare databases across the globe for an offence of this nature.

response to side story: Ah phase_dancer, good old Indian Charas: hair or I would smoke it!!!
