People That Shaped The Furture Of Music

could you please support that statement with even a hint of evidence?

doesnt need one, the name alone should explain. aerosmith combined with run dmc created the rap/rock genre. They inspired plenty of bands that are around today. Oh and not to mention the band that has all original members for over 30 years. longest standing band ever, not to mention still having the original members.

RUN DMC did that, Aerosmith's participation wasn't required after the original recording. They went on to create some seriously banal music, culminating in their only #1 hit, that crappy song from armageddon, which they didn't even write. They were a decent rock band back in the 70s, and yes, Run DMC did create an entire genre of music with their song, one that is probably more of an abberation than the next big step in rock. I hate Run DMC for resurrecting their carriers. They've produced nothing but tripe ever since.

yeah aerosmith has been around a long time, but for the last 15 or 20 years they've made the same tune with different lyrics. hardly altering the future i think.

props for the "Can"^^^, Can kicks so much ass

how bout some Led Zep, the guys who "started" that whole guitar tone that has been by almost every guitarist since then...

oh and bob dylan, one of the, if not the most influencial musicians of the past 40+ years... He was one of the first in recent music history to prove that your voice didn't have to be beautiful or technically impressive to be good, He damn near started the electrified folk/country movement. He became the man who damn near every singer songwriter since him has looked up to.

i still dont see how aerosmith has "shaped music". I can't think of one song they've done since the 80's that hasn't sounded like their last ten.

see, another one: the rolling stones.

Aerosmith, the rolling stones, pink floyd. All of these are good bands, but they did NOT influence music in the way that others, often less talented bands and musicians have.

I would say 311 perfected the oh so popular rock/rap genre duplicated by bands like Linkin Park, Mindless Self Indulgence, KoRn, Limp Bizkit...

Run DMC had a HUGE impact on the Hip-Hop world. I believe they fashioned many of the technical aspects of that genre, not to mention drew a line in the sand between R&B and Hip Hop, or at least they drew a line for everyone to see.

Floyd definitely shaped music just by being the first band to write such brilliant, obviously thought-out, and laborious(meaning they worked hard)music.

while i agree the rolling stones were not a huge musical influence, i think they are probably hugely responsible for encouraging countless people and bands to pick up instruments and give it a go.

just my hunch.

Hmm well here is one on pink floyd...

One of the first band ever to use sampling and loops, check them out in dark side of the moon, i don't know any other songs in that time period that used sampling and was also successful and heard by mainstream music listeners.

Oh and I think Radiohead is going to be a group that is and has been shaping the future of music.
