I've recently come into some Talwin NX (pentazocine/naloxone) pills. Just to get this out of the way, I'm not opioid dependent and have no tolerance to them whatsoever (so the pentazocine will not precipitate withdrawals and should be considered to have a full effect) and I only intend to use them orally (so the naloxone is insignificant). Also, my natural opioid tolerance seems to be very high (and apparently runs in my family), so just keep that in mind. 60 mg OxyContin was the first pain killer I ever tried and it did barely anything to me other than make me a little sedated.
I've heard online, anecdotally, that pentazocine can create a "DXM-like" dissociation at around a 400 mg dose, and of course it's been known for some time to have the potential to cause hallucinations similar to salvia due to its kappa-opioid agonism. I have not been able to find a genuine trip report with it, aside from hospital reactions which generally means the person is sensitive to it. I have 700 mg in my possession at the moment. I've taken 50 mg once before as a test to see if there would be any negative reactions and there weren't. I actually also took 50 mg about 45 minutes ago, because I woke up with a good deal of arm pain, so that will be a further test. (The previous one was late at night, a couple hours before going to bed.)
I would be more than willing to try a dissociative dose and write a trip report for it, just to get one out there even if there's not a whole lot to speak of, but I need some information first. Does anyone know just how safe or unsafe pentazocine is? I'm not too worried about things like respiratory depression because (according to Wikipedia) there is a ceiling for this effect with pentazocine. Mainly what concerns me in the mention of cardiovascular effects, and the fact that I don't know much else about this chemical. It says that the cardiovascular stuff might make it a bad choice of narcotic for patients who've had a heart attack, but that could apply to lots of things. Does anyone know if the effects are significant enough to be cautious with normally, or if they just don't want to take risks when there are other opioids available? My blood pressure is a bit high, technically pushing into the hypertension range sometimes but just barely and mostly I believe due to anxiety and being sedentary. I haven't been officially diagnosed with any health problems, and I've been to the doctor somewhat recently. However, I still don't want to push my luck too far.
Lastly, does anyone have anything to say about the dose? I'm hesitant to go over 400 mg without hearing from anyone else who has, particularly someone who is at least not very tolerant to opioids, though I would do it if I felt secure enough about it. However, I'm also hoping that I won't have to, because if 400 mg is a good dose then I can use the rest to work my way up to it with 100 mg and 200 mg trials as well.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
