🌟🌟 Social 🌟🌟 PD Social Thread 2022-2025 v. Year of the Phenethylamine

I just saw a statistic in the link below and I would like to find where it came from so that I can evaluate it. They say based on data from 1989 - 2006 that roughly 1:400 people that use ibogaine have a fatal reaction to it.

So 99.75% of the time, no one dies. That's better than some pharmaceuticals.

My thinking is that if blockchain will change the world, we wouldn't be still talking about all of it in either hypotheticals or some minor application. The hype started so many years ago... Still almost nowhere apart from some niche stuff despite major attention.

Most impactful real world applications are crypto related and that doesnt seem like it will go anywhere. Crypto fanatics are like hardcore antivaxxers, "everyone will die, just wait". Wait for what exactly? I've never seen a coherent answer from either...
Well it has transformed third world countries much quicker than first world countries. Many people in third world countries now prefer crypto, because it's more stable than Zimbabwe dollars or whatever. America and other first world countries have such a strong currency and robust economy already that it makes sense that it takes a lot more time for the changes to happen here

China banning crypto definitely slowed things down for global adoption tho.

I’d like to know too if you can figure it out. I also wonder how popular using ibogaine was in even 2006 compared to now? And how much they tested for heart troubles and such. That is interesting, I’ll have to look into this stuff some more too. Thanks for the link.

Sure, changes, how would that go for existing coins? A super small percentage holds such a large majority of them. Seems like a huge issue to me and that's only on the surface. So many more issues with actual scalability, and how adoption would even work (a climate with superpowers that have killed millions for money)...

What bugs me is that nobody ever says anything concrete, like this is what needs to change and this would be the outcome and this is why it would be better. All woozy talk and all anyone sees is grifters, scammers and idiots with Doge profile pics that tweet about Musk 5 times a day. Will they play this game another 5 years?

I used to believe somewhat in crypto, but I got jaded... Now I realize that nobody has an answer to any of the questions. Maybe it will be next month when everyone starts dropping dead ;)

Happy for these countries though, by all means.
But the bubble will explode someday and I hope they aren't all in then.

Musk getting into crypto was definitely bad for the scene lol

Is there a Big & Dandy or Small & Handy for managing opioid constipation? Any tips on assisting with bowel regularity with opioids? Two weeks post-surgery, my friend is still using large doses trying (and failing) to manage their pain. Their constipation is bad enough that their abdomen is becoming distended, and their health care providers are beyond useless. Any recommendations would be exceedingly welcome.

I also have been using psychedelics/dissociatives less and less frequently, too. It has gone from a 3+ times a week thing in 2006-2007, to a once every week, sometimes skipping a week, to every few weeks on average, to less than once a month now (on average, I still will trip two days in a row at a music festival). Just not feeling the itch much. I have also been really involved with my career so that's a factor. But I'm glad, psychedelics are best when you take them infrequently.

Yeah, drugs in general are sure enjoyed better when used infrequently. With psychedelics specifically, I had a handful of really impactful, memorable and sometimes even life changing trips when I first started tripping and was doing it only once in a while. Then for some years I was tripping very frequently, and while I still had some amazing trips here and there, a lot of them I think I dont even remember they happened.

Now I've been tripping once every couple of months, and I started getting more meaningful trips again, and the last couple were also a lot more visual.

Opioid constipation is the worst, the main reason why I use them so infrequently. I have no answer for you unfortunately apart from lots of water and a fiber-rich diet. Hopefully someone has a more effective and immediate method to alleviating these symptoms.

Opiate constipation is something that is talked about a good bit over in BDD/OD. I have experienced it a whole lot. Here is my advice:

First, get some stool softeners and and osmotic laxative. Dusocate sodium is the standard OTC stool softener, and it's safe to take a lot of. What I used to do is take a handful, like 8-10 of them, twice a day (or once a day). It will take some time to work, but this will help soften it up so it isn't like shitting literal bricks once it does come out. The osmotic laxative (miralax is ideal, it's like polypropylene glycol or something, which you mix into a drink) works by lubricating the GI tracts by bringing water into it. The combination of these two will help things to get moving, and also not hurt horribly when it comes out. And drink a lot of water and make sure you are consuming plenty of dietary fiber. A stimulant laxative can help move things along, but it can cause serious cramping.

Once things are moving, this next bit is miraculous. Get some psyllium husk powder, and take 2 teaspoons a day. it's a fiber supplement that additionally forms a mucilage structure, so it bulks stools up and also makes them soft and lubricated. it is VERY important to take it with adequate water, you have to mix the dose with a full 8 to 12 ounces of water and drink it. If it's taken without being mixed in adequate water, it can form a solid gel that can actually cause temporary blockages. This is why you should wait until AFTER things have started moving again from the stool softeners and osmotic laxative, so it doesn't bump up against a poop rock, stop, and make things worse.

Years ago, and also when I started on suboxone this time, I was experiencing terrible constipation from opiates. I would only have bowel movements every 3-4 days, and it was like giving birth to bricks, there was blood and terrible pain, and then I couldn't sit comfortably for 2 days afterwards... constant pain and itching. Once it finally started feeling better, along comes another. I went through this for years and caused some damage (I'm quite sure) which never fully healed. Then I figured out the above regimen, and it changed everything. Despite being on 8mg of suboxone a day (and as much as 16 when I started - keep in mind in the past, even 2mg a day would stop me up badly), I have totally normal bowel movements. Every morning after I wake up, I sit down and it comes out effortlessly. Sometimes I even have a second one in the day. It's been life changing to be totally honest, I used to fear going to the bathroom for years of my life, because of opiates.

Getting the current fecal matter out may be painful, because stool softeners will only work so much against stuff that's already in there, but if you give the stool softeners adequate time to work (8 to 24 hours... it seems pretty variable), it should help. Caffeine can take the place of a stimulant laxative. Another thing that can help lubricate is mineral oil (sold as a laxative).

Yeah Miralax is best once you get to that point. When I would get really backed up, I would start with a double dose, sometimes another double dose 12 hours later. Lots of water. Better to take too much and risk diarrhea than it is to take too little and maybe give yourself hemorrhoids (like me).

I feel your pain, brother (quite literally). The years I spent with terrible chronic constipation damaged my pooper permanently, I'm quite sure. It's fine right now, and usually is now that I have it under control with the daily psyllium husk. But if I get a spell of even mild constipation, it flares back up. Sometimes it bleeds, and it will hurt and itch and it takes days or weeks to get back to normal, assuming I take care of the constipation and it stops. I hate it. You definitely want to avoid that at all costs.

Just thinking back on those days... ugh. :( 3-4 days of half hoping I poop that day, half dreading it. A half hour on the toilet, sweating and in agony, to pass a massive, rock hard , what feels like spike-covered brick of waste. Then days of pain and discomfort, and repeat. I sure wish I had done something about it then.

If your friend does experience the pain and itching, the best thing is Preparation H. You have to get the ointment, though. I tried to buy the knockoff store brand, but it was a white cream and was almost worthless. The clean ointment, with the piece that you insert and it squeezes it out inside... that's what you want. It helps a whole lot... use it right after you finish going, and you can spread it around and even insert and squirt some in each day if needed. It calms the pain and itching a whole lot, and helps it heal faster.

Good times with opiates!

For me it was chronic dissociative use that initially constipated me to the point of doing that (my opiate use came later and made it worse tho). But yeah, very similar issues, bleeding occasionally and etc. It's incredibly embarrassing but sometimes I even "leak" after a BM, when that starts happening I have no choice but to go lay down. Standing or sitting makes it take far longer to stop. And especially physical activity makes it worse -- which has been a major hassle when it comes to working, because when I'm physically active after a BM it leaks enough that the people around can smell it. =\ that's rare but so embarrassing when it happens that it's hard not to fixate on worrying about it.

Hydrocortisone cream with aloe is my go to.

Revisiting some of my own music that I've recorded in the past year, thought my swirly friends might appreciate this piece. The rhythm guitar is an old old guitar part I wrote probably a decade+ ago, the guitar and harmonica solos over top are 100% improvised in the moment tho.

And this one is a more recent recording, based on a 12/8 keyboard part I wrote last year. My current thought about it is that it would function great as a theme song for a sci-fi TV show (it kind of reminds me of The X-Files theme).

Usually I'm more of a "musician" but this track is almost entirely just sound manipulation. Two 7ish second loops (one for the left hand of the original keyboard part it's based on, one for the right), ran through my guitar pedals. I just manipulate knobs on the guitar pedals the whole time, particularly changing the character of the track when I add or remove my delay / adjust the high pass and low pass filters on the delay. But also some fun manipulation of my modulation and chorus pedals.

This was just a rough "proof of concept" demo pretty much but I think works well despite being my first attempt to record the ideas.

Definitely file this under "don't try this at home." Man tries to inject mushroom tea and ends up ****with Psilocybe cubensis literally growing in his blood stream****. The fungal infection almost killed him from multiple organ failure.
