Which is better? Has less side effects and doesn't leave you feeling like a robot with no emotion? BL's that have tried both, input greatly appreciated.. my doctor gives me paxil, but from what I hear from EVERYONE zoloft is superior, but in what way?! Doctor obviously gives it to me for anxiety plus some klonopins.
Thank you, I would post this in medical, but..

Imo paxil has way more side effects. There's actually some pretty nasty withdrawl symptoms associated with Paxil. It fucks with the sex drive in 80% of the people that use it. I was on it for a year and I wasnt one of the lucky 20%. Also, it didnt do shit for depression or anxiety with me. Everyone is different though and maybbe you'll see some good results.

I already have plenty of benzos, but I don't want to treat it with a whole slew of benzos.

From what I recall reading of the clinical trials, effective and side-effects in the two are more or less equivalent.
The thing is, everyone reacts to SSRIs in general and individual SSRIs differently. Some people respond better to Zoloft, some to Paxil, some to neither, some to both.
I would talk to your psychiatrist about this... if you don't have one ask your doctor for an appt with one. They usually have LOTS of experience prescribing SSRIs, and are generally very willing to suggest/have you try different ones. That's what you pay them all that money for, might as well take advantage of it. :)

Thank you, the reason I don't ask my doctor is cause he's an asshole muthafucker. I don't have insurance so I am gettin a lot of SSRI's over the internet because they are dirt cheap. But I guess the only way I will find out is to try them! Thank you again.

In the past few years and several SSRI's later, I've come to the conclusion that they're all bullshit and have so many side effects that NO SSRI IS WORTH TAKING.
I have bipolar disorder and anxiety problems. I have come to accept the fact that I will always have problems and I realized one day that I just had to deal with it. It's something of a handicap. No drugs I take are going to change it. I have to get up every day and go to work like everyone else. I have to try harder than normal people to function properly. That's just the way it is. I take mood stabilizers to keep my mood swings from getting too extreme, although it does not cure the depression. The mood stabilizers have been great, though, because they produce minimal side effects and don't cause other weird mood issues.
If I really feel the need to be happy I can go take opiates or something.

What kind of mood stabilizers do you take? I think I might look into this type of med but I know nothing about them. Any info you can give would be appreciated. And yes, I agree SSRI's are bullshit. They are for me anyway. I've always gotten scripts of'em with my benzos. After about 3 years of trying one after another I finally stopped getting the scripts filled.
