I know everyone is different but I was hoping some of you might be able to help me with some wisdom....

I am feeling the depression HARD from my last and final 5 week oxy binge (snorted)...i was around 150 mgs a day and was loving it...now i am paying for it...i have been on again, off again with opiates for about a year but i was only doing 15-30mg oxy a day max on my previous month or two binges but this last one i just went wild 8o

I was wondering if anyone might guess how long this terrible depression will last? I am on day 6 and can barley get out of bed...I am thru the Physical WD except for the diarrhea which is expected...but i am intent on quitting for good this time and have that feeling of hopelessness

Any guesses of how long this might last before i start feeling a little better and my brain chemistry gets back to normal? Any help would be much appreciated...how long does it takes for the brain to produce the good chemicals again?

Paws is generally only a term thrown around with addicts... like people who have been hooked for months & years. 6 days is easily still in the immediate withdrawal period. You'll be out of it soon dude you were only going for little over a month. Within a week or two you'll never know you binged. Be happy you stopped and didn't keept going for years and then feel real paws, being depressed and shit many many months after being clean

Thanks as that gives me some hope...this past year of on/off opiate use really fucked with my life and this depression needs to go...thanks for the advice and take care

Everyone is different, but as RedRum said, you haven't been taking opiates daily for that long really (comparatively speaking) and it can take a good week to start to feel normal from opiate WDs anyway - I'd be really surprised if this was anything more than a regular WD symptom.

I know how awful bad, unable-to-get-out-of-bed depression can be though. Do you have friends or family who can help you? Once you start feeling a tiny bit better try to get up and do something small and simple like having a shower or making some food, then build up to going to the shops or meeting mates and before you know it you should be feeling okay again :)

If it persists, however, I would see your doctor - it is possible that you have developed depression and the opiates masked it, or maybe you started taking the opiates because you felt down? I am wildly speculating here, but if you are still feeling just as bad after a week or so I really would go and see a doctor.

Best of luck, really hope you feel better soon <3

Have a read of The Dark Side forum too if you are stil feeling depressed or if things get really bad, there are a lot of lovely people in there and probably people going through very similar experiences to you. Tis def worth a look :)

Even though this post may not matter now. Since it's been awhile... the depression should only last for a little bit. Maybe a week tops but usually once you're out of withdrawals you start feeling better. The first two days are always the worst but after that it starts getting a lot better. Just stick through it and you can do it. (This is to anyone reading this now going through the same problem). Luckily you didn't use for too long so the withdrawal symptoms should be normal. Like effie said the dark side is a great forum to check out. Will help you out a lot.
