'Drugs dog' unleashed in town centre

Chorley police unleashed their latest weapon in the fight against drugs at the weekend.
A special drugs dog' visited the town centre, searching for drugs on people.
Inspector Ian Roberts explained: "It's a passive drugs dog that smells people.

"It indicates if it has smelled any form of drug, including cannabis, cocaine and heroin. That will allow police officers with the dog to search people.
"It is a totally different dog to the ones used for a target search."
He added: "The reason we are doing this is local landlords have asked us to give some assistance.
"They are finding when doorstaff check people there's an increase in personal possession of cannabis and cocaine.
"That's something we are happy to do and will be happy to do again in partnership with Pubwatch to ensure premises are run and used properly."
