Passion and Lost Youth

Behind Conroy, with a Chainsaw...
Where once the flames of passion lept
Cold ashes remain, sifting slowly in the wind
A long dead bonfire of our collective vanity
Amo Veni, Amo Vidi, Amo Vici
And we the spoils of that conquest
Enslaved to each other and ourselves
For a thousand years or one
The iron bonds of love do rust in time
Appear solid as the day they were cast
And yet one touch will shatter them to fragments
Sepia toned, dusted with nostalgia
Our memories preserved
Antiques from some forgotten age
Of younger passion
Blessed are those who remember
For they shall see fault
This strange mirror of youth
Reflecting only what we desired to see
Yet in the icy light of wisdom
Hope does yet shine again
And still, and always I look back
On that crusade of foolishness
With fond eyes and warm heart
For were we not all young once
Always youth declaims its fire of passion
To be everlasting and eternal
Yet hot flame must give way to ashes
As shall the flower of youth
Wither and die upon the vine of time
And our memories of young love
Remain a blanket, 'gainst the cold
Of age and certain death

Oh my god...
That poem has left me completely speechless. Plazma, your words have floored me. That's one of the best things I've read in this forum.

another stroke of genius plaz, your work always amazes me. and so true as well
Yet hot flame must give way to ashes
As shall the flower of youth
Wither and die upon the vine of time
And our memories of young love
Remain a blanket, 'gainst the cold
Of age and certain death if only there was another way *sigh* lol :D
nice work dude :)

i wana say,,, i am proud of you, but i nor anyone has anything to do with this poem but you,
extraordinary work!
and if i just spelled that right, i am proud of me :)
honest, i am impressed plaz,, your work is something i always like to read :)

Very, very impressive work. That head of yours is, as I said, 8th wonder of the world...
:)

Holy shit, dude!! That's one of the most powerful things I've read lately. It's the kind of thing that, after I read it, I have to review my current feelings toward the subject matter... or something.
Nice work, man.

Oh Plaz... in a few mere words you have perfectly expressed ideas that i have for years tried to verbalise. (I am so jealous!)
Nice work... i love it...
Always youth declaims its fire of passion
To be everlasting and eternal
Yet hot flame must give way to ashes
As shall the flower of youth
Wither and die upon the vine of time
And our memories of young love
Remain a blanket, 'gainst the cold
Of age and certain death
There is a method in't, and this simple metaphore states it all...
:)

/me builds another room for plaz's verdent ego
....*grins* this is beautiful sweetheart.
A long dead bonfire of our collective vanity
..*sigh*...
oh the pathos.

Although i have read "Brave new world", i cannot claim that my signature is an allusion to that novel. Rather i was working one day, and a very old man with a walking cane and hearing aids came in. After spending about half an hour in the branch (i work in a bank) he made as if to leave, but as he did so,he turned, looked me in the eyes, and with clarity that did not seem at all characteristic he stated: "The punishment for living long is growning old". It was a moment that possessed all the surreality of a painting done by Dali or Whitely, and it seemed an apporpriate signature. :)

Oh, well my old signature wasn't related to Brave New World either - it's a song that i heard on JJJ one time. I put it up there as my signature in case someone recognised it and could tell me what the song is called...
But now that i think about it, they both seem appropriate to that novel. Lol, the things that happen by accident!
Misty ;)

Every time I enter the Words forum, I read this brilliant piece. And every time I try to say something about it, it blows me away and leaves me speechless. This is the best I can do for this work of art. Any thing else would just detract from it.
