Cocaine Pass breathalyzer because of coke?

So, some guy told me that when you're drunk, you can pass a breathalyzer by doing coke. I called bullshit of course. I know coke might make you feel sobered up, but no way it would break down the alcohol.

Today, another friend of mine told me had drank about 7 beers and did some coke. Police pulled him over and he had to do a breathalyzer test. Normally, when having drunk more than 2 beers, you should fail a breathalyzer test here in Belgium. He passed, though.

Please explain this to me. I think he was just lucky because the breathalyzer wasn't properly working.
 
I was in the car with some dude I just met who was supposed to bring me to my buddy's place. He's hammered, slurred speech, but strangely manic cause he was also on speed. He ends up going 170kph on a boulevard with a limit of 50kph. lol. Needless to say, we get pulled over and he has an open bottle in the car, they make him blow in the machine, and he's fucking clean! I couldn't believe it.

So I don't know, I didn't see him drink anything that night so he may not have been as drunk as he appeared to me. But there may be something here.
 
The breathalyzer was either broke like you said or your friend is not being truthful. There is no way around a good breathalyzer. They did a show about this on Mythbusters and both of the hosts got drunk on the show and tried everything you can think of to try and pass the test and not only did they fail they couldnt even bring their alcohol level down. It doesn't test your breath but the vapors in your mouth.

One thing I have wondered though. Ive heard of people shooting up vodka(very small amounts) and other types of alcohol and getting really drunk. I wonder if you would still pass a breathalyzer if you IVed the alcohol instead of drinking it. I'm not interested in doing this but just wondering.

Even if the alcohol is injected the breathalyzer would still detect alcohol due to the fact that a portion of the alcohol ingested will evaporate into the breath.
 
I doubt this is true, however, you all are free to discuss the implications of this.

Lo and behold, our beloved senior mod/OD moderator Amapola was killed by a drunk driver. I'd hope this knowledge would deter anyone reading this thread from actually drinking and driving.

If you get pulled over, and are visibly drunk, not failing the Breathalyzer won't help much, as the cop will still take you to the hospital to be drug tested.

Then they'll draw blood, find ethanol in your blood among the cocaine and other drugs, and they'll still charge you with a DUI/DWI.
 
Alcohol is still in your bloodstream whether you add coke to the equation. So i hope thats not whats up for question. If this is ways to fool a breathalyzer, this sounds as dumb as sucking on a penny to pass it. Sure when you do coke you feel more sober (even though you shouldnt use this as an aid to be able to drink more), but your BAC says different..

Regardless, I am going to close this. We aren't here to discuss ways to thwart law enforcement. We do our best to maintain a website abiding by the law and discussion on how to break it isn't allowed.
