The democratic party also didn't have to run the shittiest middle of the road candidates while constantly repeating and validating the nonsense lies put out by republicans

And before anyone says anything yes I did vote but I'm still allowed to be pissed off at the inept clown show that is the US democratic party. They should make people want to vote for them because they have good policy not just because they aren't the ones who are completely insane.

Being the "safe default" means you're ineffective at getting anything done because you're so scared to lose some tiny amount of votes that you completely shun your actual supporters

True... but.
Now that we are seeing just the beginning of the alternative to the safe default one could spout off a saying about cutting off your nose to spite your face, Except the leopard has already eaten said face.

I agree with them being too scared, but I think it's scared to lose the corporate money that they get. Everyone was clutching their pearls and wondering what moved the voters, what were they all pissed off about. Then, the UHC CEO got shot and there was a huge outpouring of sympathy for the shooter from both sides. The answer is as plain as the nose we've cut off our face.

(You did vote and you do have a right to complain. You support the party, you should have some say in their direction. (another real issue))

Its not that they aren't progressive enough, its that they aren't progressive at all and actively push out people who *are*, even only moderately, progressive. The entire party has shifted to center-right, and the center part is being rather generous.

They're nearly all bought and paid for by super PACs both D and R and none of them want to do anything about it because its their ticket to power

Yea maybe the people who think democrats are too far left should just be voting R, I thought that was the conservative party. By being so concerned about those "centrists" the democrats lose the vote of their actual supporters

Can't say I disagree. 'Cept that I hope that in these times even hard core liberal, left wing, commie, bedwetters (like me) would know to vote against, for now anyway.

I would also hope that but many didn't believe the risks and others are sick of rewarding the poor governance of the democrats. That's what I'm saying, just claiming "we aren't as bad as them" while having nothing to offer just is not a reliable way to get your voters to vote for you

Even if the republicans are offering terrible, harmful policy they at least offer *something*

Perhaps the time to try to push the party to the left would've been after Trump lost. Electing more progressive candidates in the midterms. Promote a new candidate to challenge her nomination.

Instead they elected the guy who is actually gonna do all the shit they were afraid of.

Because they thought she'd still win if they stayed home, then they'd have their "I didn't vote" street cred for the next four years.

Play stupid games win stupid prizes I suppose.
 
An elegant solution would be to nuke em. Nuke the lot of em on both sides. Gaza, Israel. Iran. Fuck it while we're at it, let's hit Belgium too. Then wave your finger at the rest of the world and say "now don't do it again".

A problem atomized is a problem that no longer permeates the news cycle.
 
Mate I spent my early-mid 20s so open minded my fuckin brain fell out. All that's left is seeing the world for what it is. Ideals are great but at some point you will realise we do not and never will live in an ideal world because ideal means something different to everyone. Can't please everyone all of the time. Most of the time you can barely please anyone. But you can always immolate them in a nuclear fireball.

You are leaving out a lot of realities and reducing the situation to logic "If bad things are done with enough force for pursuit of good, it will work out".

Our "civilizations" are so complex and all-encompassing that they were seriously disturbed by COVID only. Going nuclear would have globally horrible consequences, in addition to nuking innocent people being thoroughly evil thing to do.

I was nihilist back then also. I have since abandoned nihilism. I believe in the beauty of life and love. That is actually exactly why I hate some things, because fascism for example is anti-life and anti-love. But I still do my best to minize or avoid collateral damage while opposing it.

I never said anything about a pursuit of good. That's you filling in blanks.

I'm just sick of hearing about the same thing over and over. Let's liven things up a little and change the news cycle.
