I had some oral surgery today and I am in pain. The doctor said if I experience try aspirin and if that doesn't work he will call something in for me. But I have a problem, im under my mom's roof and she knows that used to use painkillers regularly. If I tell her I need them, shes going to think that Im back into using them again, but Im really not I am truly in pain here. Any suggestion on what to do about the pain? or a way to conivnce my mom im not using them. It hurts alot here and I need something, my mom is just going to think Im a good actor.

I'm trying not to be harsh, and I know this doesn't help you, but it sounds like you really fooked yourself on this one.
Try being honest with your mother, tell her you got this surgery, aspirin doesn't touch the shit and you REALLY just need to kill the pain for a few days. Tell her that you will let her hold the pills, and that she can monitor giving them to you. Tell her when the pain's gone, if there are still pills she can flush the shit for all you care. Be nice about it too. She might do something really irresponsible and give them to you. Later.

I think that your mother will be cool about it since you DID just have surgury right? well then, nuff said. good luck

act like your in more pain then you actually are , it should get around the mother thing and you might get something better if you express real discomfort. You have to act FAST because if you wait to long then they will think you are just scamming . CALL THEM NOW!

I think a limited script would be a good solution. If you are truly interested in relieving pain and not getting high, explain this to her. Seems like a reasonable argument to me, but I don't know how your relationship is with your mother.
Peace

Thanx guys....well I am in alot of pain and I acted like I was in more pain then I rellay was and I still got the..."You'll be ok in a few days" treatment. Looks like Im either going to call the doc myself, or miss out on a golden opportunity.

This is dumb. OD is slowly degnerating into tips for 15 year old e-tarts who wan't go con their parents. You *do* have a history of opaites abuse, you talk about missing a golden opportunity not avoiding the pain. Have you even tried the tylenol?
Waiting till the long run isn't particularly bad. Look up your disesase (probably medline is a good source) and figure out where the pain is at its peak (not usually right after surgery.
Sure I am pissed that doctors are so reluctant to give out painkilles, I support open honest information about drugs and drug effects, This doesn't mean we need to give every 15 year old advice about how to hide his habit from his mother (attempts to obtain real psych medication are a little differnt). Not that the individual posts are bad but I don't like this downward sprial of answersing questions about how to get juvies get high.
It may not be super effective (does your GP know about your drug abuse?) but your could always get some of the weak ones like tramadol with no prolem and no eyebrows raised.
Also you were into pills before why don't you hook up with them?
I fell very dirty writing this post.
Still a question is answered so I will try to provide some info even if it might not be in your best interest. Don't let your mother know what drugs you are taking. You underwent major surgery and it isn;t unlikely that they would prescribe you a fuckton of antibiotics. Unless your mother is a drug nerd how the hell is she going to know the differnece between hydrocodone (keep names generic) and ethrolymyacin.
For some practical standpoint it is extremely distressing for parents to see their children in pain. You may not experince significant resistance. Be sides a doctor told you to do it (and we all know no doctors use drugs) it can't be bad. Especially if you tell your mom he knows about your past opiate experiences (doctor/client will prevent her from ever disproving it).
Say you told him about your previous issues b/c of relapse worry and he assured you that in a controlled prescription seeting addiction isn't particularly of a concern.
You are going to get fucked (as in the early post) when you eat them all fast and need more. To scam another script you almost certainly need a parent (or at least a pretend one) or a g.f. comeon in complaining about your condition

It's okay, you should see the state other harm reduction boards are in now *dancesafe* cough cough *dancesafe*.
This is nothing, really.

.. if, say.. the surgery you had was like.. they amputated your leg, im sure the doctor would have given you a reasonable painkiller, as needed. if your doctor said "IF you have pain, take an asprin" im willing to bet that whatever surgery you had wasnt very severe, and you should just try to pop the fuckin tylenol (tylenol does help for pain.. ) and see what happens. if your in keeled over pain where a hydrocodon is necessary, then your moms probably going to notice, and get the script for you. i broke the rear bone of my leg in 1/2.. the doctor said take tylenol, and i did, and it helped. i shattered my arm and the dr gave me hydrocodon and told me to take it even if i wasnt hurting, and for fucks sake it was damn good advice. the point is i kinda doubt if the surgery was known to cause severe pain, any dr would definatly perscribe a non refillable small dose of at least hydrocodon.

If you are actually in pain then go to the doctor and be completely honest. Try what he suggests and if it doesn't work go back.
If you just want to get high then stop being such a fucking pussy. Get yorself down to Martin Luther King blvd and score yourself some smack.
It is either one or the other.

Ok, you say you really need them but then say you are going to miss out on a golden opportunity. To me this makes it sound like you just want the pills. Also I agree with FunkayRavin, what was this surgery exactly, because if the doc just reccomended tylenol when neccesary and to call if you really need it, I don't think you really need it...but hey, if you do in fact need them, do what stardreamer suggested and tell your mom she can dispense them to you so that she can monitor you usage, then destroy the leftover (or send them to me)...

Hi - there's just a LITTLE BIT of ranting on my part here, so bear with me.
First - hide your drug/alcohol habits from your parents. It might be hard to hide something like cigarettes, but if you don't learn skills like this now, you won't know where to keep contraband in your car so the cops won't find it, or how to surf the internet while you should be working. When I was your age I used to attend punk shows in dirty warehouses where I'd get stinking drunk and possibly smoke pot while I'm at it, and I could still have my Mom pick me up without knowing I did anything. "Oh, I'm just tired, and someone spilled beer on my clothes". Your parents may have their suspicions, but as long as you're not blatantly abusing substances in front of their face and telling them about it, you should be fine. Do you tell your parents every time you jerk off? No. Don't tell 'em when you're downing prescription drugs like it's going out of style.
Second, you should milk this for all it's worth. It's clear that your doctor is THE DEVIL by now, but you should moan and writhe in agony until you at least have some inferior, low-grade opiate painkillers. A friend of mine fell off a cliff this weekend, and has 8 staples in her head. Seeing as how she looks "punk" and was understandably combative with the paramedics, she didn't get anything, because her doctor was THE DEVIL... luckily, I have a surplus of inferior, low-grade opiates, and was glad to provide a few.
Around the turn of the century, heroin was available over the counter and recommended for it's cough suppresant properties, but now, people ascribe sentient qualities to chemicals, for some odd reason. Sadly, there seem to be a lot of doctors like this.
So, I think it's the moral thing to do to complain until Dr. Satan's iron facade cracks and he gives you some real pain medication.

Amen *CrystalMeth Bunny*. You gotta keep everything regarding drugs from the parents, no matter how trivial it seems. My parents think I'm Jesus Christ himself, and it'll stay that way until the day I die (or they die).
Btw, I love my parents very much. God bless their ignorance.

I dunno how you can say that... Some parents, as long as they are told the COMPLETE truth, are the best friends you can have when it comes to drugs, be it helping kill an addiction or passing down prescriptions :o )

Quale, if you think this is bad you should check out PD forum, I just love telling every 15 year old kid not to dose 40+mgs of 5-meo-dipt at a RAVE...sigh

Arguments with my mom after she was aware of my drug use were some of the most unpleasant moments of my life and I would rather castrate myself than go through them again
