i searched and also posted in the IV mega thread but haven't gotten answers to what could be a serious/timely matter. I shot up in this arm saturday, 4 days ago, and its hurt since at the sight, on the inside of the elbow. the pain isn't horrible, but the fact that its hurt for 4 days is bothering me. its gotten ever slightly better since. there are no marks, i didnt miss the shot - no redness, no bumps... not even a track mark. i can't go to the hospital unless 100% necessary because i can't have my parents finding out i do this - them knowing would probably be worse than losing a limb lol. i'm just wondering if anyone has had experience with this or may know what it is, i've done a lot of googling and looking around these forums but haven't found much. again, the pain isn't horrible, but still, its been sore for 4 days and that seems weird. its only when i move it. if its still bothering me at the same level tomorrow or friday i think i should probably take action, but i want to feel it out and see what others think first. it sort of feels like the pain from a missed shot, but i'm 99% sure that isn't the case.

any help, advice or info is greatly appreciated

A. was the needle dull? even a fairly dull needle can fuck up your vein

B. when you went into the vein, did the needle possibly slip through the other side before you registered and shot?

I ask because about a month ago my friend hit me in the crook of my left arm and i think it slipped through... i never usually reuse needles but the needle was very dull... later that night i noticed my vein was slightly harder and it was kind of sore but not that bad... it was sore for about 3 days like you are describing... it felt really sore if i bent my arm a lot... luckily the soreness just subsided by itself by the 3rd or 4th day. then a few days later my vein felt normal again.

haven't, or will not use a dull needle again

thanks for the reply - and yes the needle was being reused, which i normally don't do but it also wasn't my first time using a dull one. glad you mentioned this, it seems like thats probably what happened. i'm not sure if i went through the other end of the vein. i used a 5/16th inch but thats still long enough to do it... i'm not sure how i'd know if i did that - it didn't look or feel like a missed shot, not sure if that would indicate if i went through the other end. so, a yes to the first question, and a maybe to the second. hopefully i'll be good then and it was from a dull needle. done with that now! thanks again

Glad you got an answer! This very thing happened once when I shot up. Dull needle, went through the vein (mine was a 5/16" so it is possible if you are hitting a vein closer to the surface). Went away for me after about five days.

Definitely. I used to re-use my rigs and am glad I still have my arms. Good to hear the pain's going away.
