Opioids Pain management issue

I realize there are some Is and Mes in there, but it seriously is not. I have ZERO shame. I would tell you if it was me. Continue to watch what I post now and in the future. You will realize I am blunt, probably to a fault. I use quality words and do not have many posts, but IT IS NOT ME.

Vee have vays ov makiiing youu taaalllllkk...=D

My hold up is that ALL of the previous tests had THC in them and why is the doc just now taking issue with it?

Is this person "blackballed" from other pain management doctors?

this happened to me also. The doctor said no problem when I started and told her I was on MMJ, but when I had a screen, she flagged my file.
You need to call EVERYONE who does pain management in your area, including spine specialists, orthopedist, and any other pain specialties.

No, you are not "blacklisted" from all doctors, just find a new one and explain the situation. MS is serious and it shouldn't be an issue to get this cleared up. Also, for long term use I would highly recommend a better drug than either Hydrocodone w/ APAP (not good for long term use) or nycunta (worthless in my opinion as well, and quite harsh over time) Try some dilaudid or opana, something which doesn't produce so many metabolites.

yea. doctors dont have like a hotline where they call every pain management doctor to flag a certain patient for some reason or another.

If you have a problem with a doctor, look for another one...I know it can be very frustrating, but in the long run it is probably worth it.

jamesBrown, if you were a doctor and a recently terminated(?) patient's new doc called and wanted to speak with you about the patient, what would you say?

I have discussed strategies to have medicine changed. Read the entire thread.

I think your best option here is to definitely find another doctor, and feel them out first. If he seems like a nice, caring fellow, than be completely honest with him. Tell him you've never diverted use of your pain meds and always follow dosing instructions to the exact milligram and to the exact time of dosing. Tell him what happened with the THC. Some doctors are more lenient than others, maybe stop smoking? Is smoking really worth the loss of pain meds? I know smoking does wonders for certain disorders but pain is a cruel mistress and unfortunately our lady in red(opiates) is the one-stop shop for a cure.

Maybe the doctor will sympathize with you and feel as if your previous doctor wrongfully took you off your meds. Maybe you two can form a new agreement that the smoking can either A) continue under moderation or B) Discuss a plan to stop the smoking if the new doctor isn't fond of it either. I mean, yes some doctors are die hard against marijuana, but some consider it something that "is going to be done anyway and is generally not known to cause any adverse reactions with medications'.

For instance, when I first got put on suboxone treatment, I got in with a doctor who was VERY strict about marijuana use being 100% absolutely prohibited. I argued with him that it would be more difficult for me to get off the oxys and stop smoking in one go, even though I wasn't physically attached. He didn't care. He even went on to say that me smoking weed would 100% MAKE ME relapse on opiates again. It was at that point that I told him that would be my last visit with him, and to give me my month's supply of suboxone and I will try and find a new doc in that time frame.

Found my new doc. First thing I asked him.. ."Whats your stance on marijuana?" His response was simple. "It's not something I can control or stop. People are going to do it regardless and being that it's not known to cause any harmful effects or interact with suboxone, I will permit it, but anything more than marijuana and you will be shown the door".

You never know. Doctors are people too. Some have different opinions. Some have done their fair share of partying back in college and take weed for what it really is. Lol. I wish you the best of luck friend. Get out there and start looking!

If you feel you should avoid mentioning being kicked out of your other doctor's practice for marijuana, than only you can make that decision, but when it comes time for urine screenings, honesty is your best policy here, and at least he will give you a CHANCE to quit first if he doesn't allow smoking, rather than just telling you to get out of his office.
