Hello guys,

I have a bit of an interests here and do not really know of anyone productive to speak to on the matter . Living in Florida, we do not have medical or legal bud so it not like I can talk to an MD about it. Anyways.. Long story short I suffer from Fibromyalgia, that brings on chronic wide spread pain on an ongoing basis. It flares at times and is so bad doing anything is unbearable. Add to that the Migraines that I suffer each month and I am pretty miserable most of the time. All of the "FDA" approved drugs for this have horrific side effects.... I have a very high drug tolerance as it is with anything I have ever taken.. MDMA, Oxy (in many of its forms) I was even in the hospital for another matter back in October and they had to double up on the morphine that they gave me as well as the pain meds they sent me home with later.

With all of that said there is a lot of research out there that points to Cannabis helping with Chronic pain issues. IN my case.. I am unsure if it will help or not. I have taken part a few times with friends over the years, passing a joint, a bowl ect and they all seem to "get high" its never done anything for me in those cases so its never been anything I pursued on my own. I'm not looking to get high.. I am looking for relief in pain and anxiety, I wont mind if as a side effect I happen to get high I'm not against it in any way its just not my main goal here..

So I guess my question would be what kind of quantities / uses might work best and what is the best method of delivery here?

First coming to mind would be some kind of CBD extract, but living in Florida it's probably very rare to come by. This is pretty much the only thing that you'd be able to consume that wouldn't make you high and still provide pain relief.

Next up would be edibles or vaporization, although these would make you high they would be able to provide relief with the least amount of damage caused to your health.

Lastly would be smoking with you're mostly familiar with. Vaporization is similar, but it's more of a creeper, more subtle, and less harsh. Also flavor when vaporizing is the best (which I assume you're not after.)

Personally if I were you, I'd invest in a vaporizer. With minimal damage caused to your health, more rapid onset then edibles, I think this would be your best way to go.

My best advice would then to just try out some nice indica strains. Those will provide the body high which is the pain relief you're looking for in the best form, and will not affect your mindset as much. There is a big difference between the mental and physical aspects of a marijuana high, which are dictated by the strain and the RoA can have some effect as well. Most of the medical benefits aren't restrained by the tolerance that will become very apparent to the mental part of your uses.

I've been getting migraines for as long as I remember and after trying pretty much every rx out there, cannabis has been the only thing that gave me any relief. Of course everyone is different so you'll have to try it when you get a migraine(or flare up). As was mentioned indica strains work best for body pain because of the higher CBD content, they can also be slightly anxiolytic. However, for migraines I've found sativa strains work the best but the stronger versions can increase anxiety in higher doses so a hybrid may be your best option.

I don't live in Florida but coming from a state that doesn't have medical either, its pretty difficult to shop around for the strain that works best for you. My advice then would be to get a little bag and a cheap pipe to experiment. When you get a flare up or a migraine and you have the chance to smoke, fill up the pipe and take it one hit at a time. Make sure you fully inhale( I don't want to sound condescending or anything but not properly inhaling is a common reason inexperienced smokers don't get "high" no need to hold it in though), then wait five minutes and if you don't feel different take another hit wait five minutes and repeat. If it ends up providing relief then I'd say do some more looking for better strains and invest in a better apparatus but this way if you end up not liking it or it doesn't seem to help you it's not as big of a loss.

Living in a state without medical marijuana I feel like you're much more likely to run into indicas than sativas. As far as growing, they flower faster and I feel like the illegal grower would be trying to pump out as much weight as they can. An indica would provide a more frequent harvest.

On the other hand, most people that grow also smoke, so there's a possibility they prefer a sativa over an indica. Really all depends on who you get your weed from and how knowledgeable they are.
