Oxynorm Question

Hi guys, I've been on Oxynorm since February this year (2015) due to a gastric bypass surgery. I really like the way it makes me feel so somehow I got the doctor to keep prescribing it till now (August 2015). I've grown very tolerant to it and it does not give me a buzz unless I would maybe take 5 or 6 20mg tablets (which I have NOT done yet).

At the moment I take 120mg a day (2X20mg 3 times a day).

Can someone please tell me what is the maximum mg's of Oxynorm one can take a day without death?

Is 160mg or 180mg ok to take within 24 hours? I was thinking of taking 2X20 mg 4 times a day. Is this ok.

Taking 120mg to me is like taking 2 Panado tablets. It does nothing for me.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks guys

The amount of oxycodone, or any opiate, someone can take is almost completely dependent on there tolerance. If you have been taking 120mg of oxycodone a day for an extended period of time, in my street educated opinion, I'd say you would be just fine if you only up the dose 50mg. You probably could go substantial higher.

I'm sure others will agree.

Now, theres no way for anyone to tell you the longterm outcome of your newly found 'appriciation' for pain pills but what I can say is that you should get off the proverbial train now.

160mg or even 180mg would be fine if you've been taking 120mg a day for that long.

Hey YodaNell....WELCOME! =D I wanted to offer my moral support, as I had GB in 1987. It took YEARS for me to get healthy again. Then I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Endometriosis and BOOM...total hyst/removal of ovaries. I'm not allowed to EVER take HRT because it feeds my disease. The chemo (Lupron) ravaged my bone health.

I toughed my way through with the help of my lifelong GP (until he died). I lost him, my Darvocet, and Donnatal all in one year...the perfect storm to shipwreck my survival skills. I'm currently enrolled in PM, but have yet to find meds that suit my needs without shutting down my intestines.

I'm not familiar with Oxynorm. For safety's sake, I would recommend you discuss dose increase with your doctor. Beyond your personal health, you need to preserve your relationship with your prescriber. I'm not sure where you're from, but it's easier to pull a tiger's teeth than it is to find a good PM doctor who ACTUALLY PRESCRIBES in my part of the U.S. If contract is broken, you are "red-flagged".

Just be cognizant of the ramifications of your actions. It sounds as though you've built a tolerance. Sometimes going to strong too fast makes matters worse. I look forward to talking with you. Hope you have a restful evening!
