Ive been using oxycontin off and on the last year. The last couple of weeks Ive been using a good amount of times. The last couple days Ive been ending up snorting 40-50 mg all at once just to get a buzz. I was wondering why this is the case because it seems i grew a tolerance so fast. ANy help with this or any other useful information about oxycontin would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys later.

This is the sad truth with opiates - you quickly develop a tolerance to them. My advice is moderate your use, this will ensure your tolerance doesn't keep shooting up; because otherwise it will! Don't be surprised if you come back here in 2 weeks telling us that you doubled the 40 mg you are complaning about. Opiate users build a tolerance very fast, often without noticing, and this is the one of the biggest problems with opiates - the tolerance and the often associated addiction.
Now if you want your tolerance to go back down, you have to take some time off. I don't think you'll get severe withdrawal symptoms, so taking a week or so off is a VERY good investment if you want to keep enjoying opiates.
Also, there are some opiate potentiators (such as K and DXM) - but some people report that they don't work for them. It helped me deal with tolerance I developed after a LONG codeine habit - I don't know if it'll work in your case.
Anyways, enjoy and try to moderate. Good Luck,
Kalza

Before this gets closed, what about the people who have a legitamate need for oxycontin (ie chronic pain people). How do they take it every day and never get a tolerance? Or do they get a tolerance and just end up having to up the dosage? Thanks

SONAR-those chronic pain people DO develop a tolerancew to Opiates and i have heard several people claim to have taken unbelievable amounts like over 400 mgs a day !!!imnot shitting you, theres another opiate board on the net filled with opiate/chronic pain people who are trying to kick the habit..
i consider myself BLESSED as i have a low tolerance to opiates...i have been taking ocs for well over a year now EVERYDAY and i STILL get a high if i snort 10 mgs!!im not bullshitting eitheer...these reports of people claiming their tolerance goes up while using only 3-4 times a week is nonsense IMO...

^ I wouldn't go so far as to say that somebody taking OC's three-to-four times a week won't develop a tolerance quickly. The first time that I took OC's I chewed one 20mg and crushed up and swallowed another 20mg and hardly felt anything. My second time taking OC's, a week later, I snorted 40mg and got as high as I've ever been. Complete euphoria and I instantly fell in love with the drug. About 4 days later I snorted another 40mg and felt nowhere near as good as I did on my previous OC experience, which was the same dosage. Not even an hour later I snorted another 40mg, and I still didn't feel as good as I did on my second OC experience. So saying that you don't build a quick tolerance is complete nonsense.

I have only been using oxy's for a few months and already I dont get satisfaction from a 40mg. I was using heroin reguarly for the past 2 years and the oxy's came along they kicked my ass!! I think tolerance is built up by how far you push it. I have never tried snorting though, does it have the smae affect as IV?

Legit chronic pain patients DO build a tollerance, thats why some CP'ers are taking several hundred mg's of OxyContin each day...
But yeah, just lay off for awhile and it will go down, thats all there is to it...
I failt to see yer question - you simply developed a tollerance, plain and simple...
