Oxycontin OP's accidents and deaths

Hi,

I'm a journalist working on an article about the change in oxycontin and I'm looking for information about accidents and deaths that have resulted from people trying to inject or snort the op's (or other pills with anti-abuse mechanisms)

If anyone has any information either from personal experience or from the net (thus far it's been quite hard to find) it would really be appreciated.

Thanks!

I can tell you the anti abuse is bs it takes work but you can get around but I just switched to instant release and did more heroin, if there are deaths it's not because of the measures they took, there more tamper resistant than anything proof.

^I disagree, a lot of the people that inject pills are clueless when it comes to processing the pills to remove the fillers, and a lot of the new ones are very difficult to crack...

There's been a lot threads started by people posting different methods to defeat the new formulation Opanas and Oxys..Some of them may work in the sense that they cause all the drug to be available to inject, but they don't really do a very good job of removing all the wax and plastic and other gunk the pharm companies are using for these abuse-proof pills...

Reading a little bit about the methods they're using, it sounds something like coating a thousand tiny grains of sand individually with a protective coating...At least, that's a laymen's interpretation of it...

Some of the most ridiculous threads detailing how to defeat the time release get removed by the mods since they're not even close to being harm reduction posts, but some of the good ones that actually tell you how to effectively remove the filler are still on OD somewhere...

The really bad ones usually go something like, "Just heat the pills up in a spoon with water and mash everything around and then shoot it'....

I'm sure there's many cases of people hurting themselves doing these types of things, but it's too early to really find any good info about it because it's private medical records...If someone loses an arm due to trying to IV the new Opanas, it doesn't end up on the news the next day....

The best way to find info on BL about this sort of thing would be to enter things like "Oxycontin/Opana time release/tamper resistant" in the search engine...but the search engine seems to be very picky....maybe I just don't know how to correctly use it...

Honestly it's about like cracking a fucking safe messing with one of those OP's.

Your likely to break a tooth! More narcs please doc!

I usually prefer oxy orally anyways so I usually just take 2x the i.r. amount I would use.

I actually really like them for pain relief the once or twice I tried them...because they kinda lasted all day, which is sometimes nice.

But where there is a will there is a way, if they have to get little Cambodian boys to gently smash the damn things with little chisels, God as my witness the abusers will go there. I will if their labor is cheap...

There may not be many situations where someone is shooting up an OP and dropping dead(not including overdoses), but I am sure there are lots of people doing much harm to themselves injecting those things and it is most likely worse than the old OCs. There isn't going to be any legitimate studies done on shooting pills and comparing the ill effects of IVing the old OCs to IVing the new OPs. In the long run if they die from a complication caused by the abuse proofing they will just make it out that you are not suppose to shoot pills in the first place.

Wanted to add a good portion of people who use opiates also use benzos with them which is very dangerous/deadly. Most (not all ) deaths are not blamed on Oxy itself but a combination of CNS depressants. Alchohol and Benzos usually.

Hi Guys, I started this thread and this project because I've seen posts about how to "beat" the matrix and eventually there's a post from some user claiming to be a dead kids mom that tried the above method and died.

I'm really searching for people who have been injured, or killed from attempting to break down the op's or other anti-abuse pills like MS-Contin.
It's a serious pursuit. Your help is really really appreciated.

I hear people talkin about this all the time and all I do is tell them how dangerous it is and that they couldn't be more wrong.
Then they get me really heated when the first step is "cookin" the pill.

:|

Not to mention they wont let you tell them shit they'd rather inject wax and fillers that are doing god knows what to every organ they have.
Really quite sad actually.
I give it another 5-10 years before people start dropping like flies from there abuse of them.

Eventually they will have made all prescribed opiates abuse proof. Towns will be filled with herion addicts and organized crime rings. Not to mention patients will get shit treatment for their pain because the government has a problem with me getting high.

The infections and complications due to shooting up that gunk, is not as sensational as some new - hypothetical - blood disease that only people injecting OP's get. If that were to happen, then yea, I could see it being newsworthy. But junkies having an increase in regular junkie complications is not going to be big news.

i had a friend who i discovered the new OP oxys with. we heated em up, smacked em, bit em, tried to crush em...nada

he thought "if doctors made it, it cant be harmful. ill shoot it."
i was fucked up also, but even i knew the people who made it, didnt design it to be injected.....
he ended up getting a huge lesion, and an infection in the muscle in his arm.

maybe it was from missing the vein..idk. but he had to go to the ER and they cut a chunk of his arm out to stop the infection. he let it go too long cause he was afraid to blow the whistle on himself.

good friend, but very fucking stupid. wish i woulda been in a better state of mind to warn him

Damn, that sucks. Thing is, no doctor or pharmaceutical company will acknowledge that it's the design of the pill's fault. It will always be the IV user willing to inject a pill that gets the blame. Rightfully so, the user is most certainly at fault, but, it just goes to show that if IV drug users are willing to go that far, than maybe the anti-abuse stuff is useless. It ruins the med for the people who need it AND it doesn't deter abuse!

Btw, I'm curious Opium, did your friend get high? Do you actually still get high even with all the gross goop now in your vein.

^^And I'm assuming that's why someone wants to write an article about this shit, to illustrate how the abuse-proof BS is causing more harm than good...

That's exactly why I'd like to write about it. There is a lack of info out there about these issues and I imagine it has something to do with big money keeping it from being a available. I'd love to chat further with @droppersneck but he seems to be temporarily not around.
Anyone else with stories of injecting OP's going to bad, please PM me or post here.
