hey all. my dose of instant release oxycodone is about 40mg to get a good buzz. i got 4 of these OP 20s. should i swallow all of them to get a good buzz, or will this cause an overdose? i would think not cause i read only a third of the dose is released at first, so that would be about 24-26mg of it instantly. any help?

edit: also would chewing them help any? i know that they gel up when snorted but same deal if chewed?

60mg orally should be good. We aren't here to help you get high. If 40mg IR gets you good, 60mg ER should be fine. Just keep in mind that these are extended release, so if you keep re-dosing keep that in mind.

If you want to turn them into IR, just let them soak 12-18hours, then drink.

thanks for the reply. i took 3 of them and didn't feel anything or any relief to the pulled ligament in my arm. i took the last one about 25 minutes after initial dosing and then i felt everything kick in. now my next question is im alright to go to sleep on them right? like i wont stop breathing in the middle of sleep when the next dose kicks in? unless i read something wrong and its released slowly at all times from now on? thanks

In the future you should wait longer than 25 minutes before re-dosing an extended release medication. It takes a while to take affect so you should be more patient. Taking the 80mg almost all at once is similar to taking 40mg initially, and then another 40mg 3 hours later. This is due to the slow release of the medication which leads to a slower breakdown and elimination of the drug. It takes about 2-3 hours to peak (as opposed to ~1 hour when taking the IR version of the drug), so I wouldn't go to sleep until at least 3 hours after your last dose so you know how you are doing when it peaks.

In a study comparing 10 mg of OxyContin every 12 hours to 5 mg of immediate-release oxycodone every 6 hours, the two treatments were found to be equivalent for AUC and Cmax, and similar for Cmin (trough) concentrations (source).

AUC = extent of absorption
Cmax = peak plasma levels
Cmin = minimum concentration of the drug after dosing
