Oxycontin OC 30MG VERSUS Oxycodone IR 15MG

Hate to Feel

I see a PM doctor monthly as a result of some lower back problems. For over a year, I was getting scripted 120 oxycodone 15MG IRs. Yesterday, my PM doc asked what I thought about trying oxycontin OP 30mg for a while. Initially, I was hesitant. I know that the OPs are different from what the OCs used to be. Even though oxycontin is new to me and I was fond of my 15 IRs, I decided to give the oxycontin a try. My doc told me if I was unhappy with the contin for any reason, I could just bring in whatever I did not use and he would swap them out for my IRs. He ended up scripting me 60 oxycontin OP 30mgs and 60 oxycodone 15 IRs, just in case I wasn't happy with the contin.

Despite taking my first oxycontin 30mg today, I don't have any real feeling one way or another other than feeling a little f'd up and nauseous. Is oxycontin OP 30mg still considered a feel good drug, despite the anti-abuse properties? Any suggestions? I am curious as to what the preference and pros/cons are between these two drugs?

Would appreciate any and all feedback..

As sad as it is, i would take an roxi 15 over a OP30. OPs suck and all they give me is stomach probems. i usually get 15s every 20 days and 1 15 gets me good, 1.5 tops. i gotta double my dose to get high off the OP oxy.

i would take a 15 all day over a 30 MG OP.

idk, if i was you i would stick to the IR oxy. IMO it's much better then OP's.

I'd stick with the IR as well. An OC 30 does not equal an IR 15 in terms of peak plasma concentration. In other words, you're going to have more of the drug in your system at any given time taking the 15mg IR vs the OC 30. The OC will last longer, but will never give a peak level of pain relief or high equivalent to the IR 15.

Solely for pain relief, the OC 30 may be more beneficial depending upon the severity of the pain. If you are in excruciating pain, the IR 15 will bring about a higher level of relief. If your pain is more chronic, malignant, and less "sharp," the OC 30 might perform better as it will keep a lower but more consistent level of the drug in your system.

The new OP's arent that great compared to the old OC's, not even close, so I would stick with the 15mg IR's........all doctors know that most patients dont like the new OP's, hence they like to prescribe them because they are so hard to abuse.

I would take an op 30 over a roxy 15mg any day of the week.....

Just take it with a cheeseburger, the fat in the cheeseburger will help with the absorption of the oxycodone......

You guys are insane....

OPs work just fine, if the delay in the effects bothers just chew it up.....

30mgs will be much more effective in pain relief...

15mgs would only be desirable if you were preparing an iv shot.

I think you should definitely go with the OCs - you will indeed feel less of a high due to the extended release/anti-abuse properties, but I feel that's a good thing if it stops you from falling in love with oxys too much, which would be dangerous obviously. But if the pain relief isn't powerful enough then go back to the OPs.
