Oxycodone Withdrawals?

I've not dosed any Oxycodone for 26 hours. About 10 hours ago (16 hours after last dose) I came down with TERRIBLE symptoms, and I cannot discern whether I am experiencing opioid withdrawals, or I've just suffered a severe viral or bacterial infection.

History:
15-30mg of Oxycodone IR and ER just about every other day for last 2 weeks.

Symptoms:

  1. Aching joints.
  2. Sore/tender muscles.
  3. Sore throat.
  4. Runny & blocked nose.
  5. Cold sweats.
  6. Shivering.
  7. Inflamed glands.
  8. Extreme thirst.
  9. Diarrhoea.
  10. Frequent urination.
  11. Generally feeling like shit.

Withdrawals or just ill? I've taken aspirin, which has done nothing. And I've been drinking chamomile tea with honey and lemon. Nothing is working. If you believe I am suffering withdrawals should I just have a small dose (5-10mg) and taper down daily? Or sweat this one out?

My LEGS (sides of thighs - quads) are KILLING me!

I feel like complete crap. Please help!

Those are my classic withdrawal symptoms. But I had a stomach bug last week that was the exact same. I know it wasn't wd's because I was pretty lit the whole time.

Sounds like standard withdrawal symptoms.

Why are you in doubt that they are? Two weeks is more than long enough to trigger withdrawals.

I'm guessing your pretty opioid naive.
That is withdrawals alright. Welcome.
If you can handle it don't take any more, otherwise- small dose and taper quickly.
I don't think it'd be good to take more. If this is your first time being addicted know that it only gets a lot worse from here.

PS- try a bit of loperamide. it might help.

This is the dichotomy I face; withdrawals or virus?

It certainly does.

I doubt(ed) it is (was) withdrawals because it has only been two weeks of every other day dosing, sometimes every third day. My dose isn't "that" high and the timing of the commencement of the aforementioned symptoms - only 10 hours after last dose. This mainly explains my doubt, but I elaborate below.

Your guess is incorrect, and correct at the same time. I was a heroin addict for several years over a decade ago (only smoked, never IV). And in the last ~3 years I have had 2-3 occasions of Oxycodone use/abuse lasting from 2 weeks to 3 months.

Thank you for the constructive advice, it is much appreciated.

As a tangent, my heroin withdrawals never felt as bad as the day described in my original post. However, I smoked a lot of marijuana when I kicked heroin, which I believe helped immensely.

Whether its a bug like I had, or WDs, it'll be over in 3 days or so. Hang in there.

Thanks, TTM. I didn't dose again. But I did like two days later, as a semi-necessity. And have again right now. The effect is just arriving.

My conclusion is that it was a bad viral/bacterial infection of sorts, as the symptoms described gradually abated over 24-36 hours, with remnants of the diarrhea still occurring. I also exercise very hard, which might have exacerbated the intensity of some of the symptoms due to training temporarily, but acutely, suppressing my immune system post exercise, and the soreness itself from training compounded the soreness effected from the infection resulting in intensified pain and suffering.

Thank you everyone for your concerns, advice, and goodwill.

God bless you all.

I am glad that you got to the bottom of it, and with that I am closing this thread.
