Oxycodone withdrawal

Suboxone is good but for your own sake PLEASE DON'T SNORT IT. I started snorting Suboxone a few months ago so I wouldn't have to do so much (I heard the bio-availability it a lot higher when snorted). It worked at first, I could make one 8mg pill last for 3-5 days. After a couple of weeks I decided to see if I could quit so I took a couple of days off. It was HELL! I felt like shit. My gf said I was like a different person. I dont know if the WD was worse because of my MOA but I dont suggest snorting the shit.

oops, I didnt see the date this thread was posted... sorry

I'm going thru oc withdrawal right now, I've been averaging 20 30 40 mg per day for over a year. The extreme, ucontrolable anxiety is the worst of it. It's like having the flu from a physical standpoint.

What really sucks is that I'm out of benzos, too, which will normally knock the anxiety back to the point where I can get some sleep.

Longer lasting than the physical symptoms is the deep sadness/depression that last for weeks afterward... I never want to suffer thru the physical symptoms because I know that I'll end up scoring again just to deal with the depression.

I wish you all the strength you need to deal with this and get thru it.

I didn't realize how old this thread was until I'd posted...

people are still listening though, due to this subject being very widespread and universal of an issue

I had a habit fairly similar to yours for about 4 years.

1 year and 2 months ago I switched to suboxone maintence therapy. At first I felt like it was just switching one addiction for another but as my life stabled out and despite occasional slip ups I managed to lower my tolerance from 6 mg suboxone or 150 oxy down to 1 mg suboxone or 80 of oxy, I realized that the program is really working for me.

In the next 3 weeks I plan to be completely clean. 1 more week of 1 mg, one week of .5 mg, one week of .5 or less alternating days.

Also I've snorted my dose the entire time. So ha. (Jokes on me, it starts to burn after a few months_

cold turkey

I was fucking around with roxicet and oc for over a year at college on a daily basis. After graduation I decided to stop after some shit went down and did so straight cold turkey. At school prior I tried to stop by doing things like lowering dosage and taking xanex. Figured out quick that those methods dont work for me at all and you just end up back on the shit, sometimes worse than before. The key is to stop cold turkey and stop hanging around the people doin it because if its around you, your gonna use it. Withdrawal blows but being a burnt out jobless broke 40 year old bum with no friends blows a lot more. Go cold turkey and man up.

.... also lifting weights, exercising, and eating good (after the rough first couple of days) helped me a lot.

Whatever you do don't take the benzos in the middle of the day at the beginning of the withdrawl. In my experience doing that will make you loopy/sleepy for 30 mins followed by feeling twice as bad for the rest of the day.

When you're ready for bed try to relax but don't force yourself to sleep- it won't work. Take the benzos after laying in bed for a while and let yourself fall asleep naturally. I have a similar sized habit and have kicked before, just stay focused and don't give in.

EDIT: Whoops, Necro post ...nevermind.

get some Loperamide/immodium Ad. LIFE SAVER

and with all those benzos laying around it'll be cake for u just find 3 days where u dont have to shit.

when i went thru w/d the first time i had to work all week which really sucked.

I have stated in other posts here that one of my most useful and benefical withdrawal aids was a rocking chair and your favorite CDs/music. I would place the chair in front of my window and turn on my favorite music. The rocking would help counteract the jittery heebie jeebies and the music gave me hope that one day, things would be better and I would feel good. It worked.

I am not an opiate abuser but have a sister who is trying to get off of them... your inside perspective definitely helps me to understand the limitations of withdrawal. If you have to have these benzos and other things to get thru it, does that mean you see a doctor that prescribes it or are you just getting it off the street?

you have plenty of xanax and valium? fuck off mate, you will be fine. Benzos and LOTS of immodium (a lifesaver ) and w/d's are a piece of cake. I have gone through the experiene more times than I can remember, usually without benzos though :(

Both, but id say most people get them off the street. Have your sister look into suboxone if shes not already.

Iknow this is an old thread but coming of oxy 120mg+ isn't that roughly the equivalent of 75-85mg of methadone? I know half life plays a part in the duration but still, it would be crazy to jump off that without a taper or a shitload of other non opiate drugs.

I came off a 3 and a half 90mg oxy habit and had my last oxy dose 150mg and waited 24 hours and had 6mg of bupe then again 24 hours later. my eyes were pinned but i felt shit mentally and in mild WD, could still eat though. day 3 i used a combination of tramadol600mg, diazepam50mg. naproxen1100mg and promethazine75mg a day. I hadn't gone to the toilet since taking the first dose of bupe and took a strategic dose of rikodiene(Dihydrocodeine380mg) which is an OTC cough syrup and has sorbitol 88grams! in it which will make you piss shit. but i was backed up heaps and the sorbitol was a relief and counted the constipation completely.

6th day i felt like i was having a light WD from the subs even still didn't feel right with trams and valium. overall it wasn't until about 9 days until i felt nearly normal, but that day i got my refill and then life became normal again. I thought i planned for it well, but it was bad and i'd rate it close to one of my worst WD's

Buprenorphine did almost nothing for my WD I was still bedridden and found it hard to even sit on my comp. Imagine what it would have been like without anything? Fuck i would have been in a state for sure. cold turkey is crazy with anyone on any strong opiate for 3 months or more. unless you're dosing low(20mg oxycontin a day or 15mg of methadone) you never want to cold turkey it. you're more likely to relapse
