Opioids oxycodone problem

So I have been keeping my tolerance down by switching from oxycodone to tramadol for a week or so a month. So far it is working. Ive been on it for 3 years and still only take 40-50mg tops daily. Anyways this time when I started to take it again at a lower than normal dose I got a bad headache and my face is very swollen and my eyes are burning. I keep reading somthing about a histimeine sp reaction in posts. Could this be causing the swelling? I have many health issues and saw my doc today. Just wondering? Been drinking alot of gatrorade to try to flush my system out. My doctor says it might be allergys but idk if the oxycodone could be making it worse? Just wondering what everyone elses thoughts are. I do not abuse my meds to get a buzz. I normally can take 15mg at a time but now im taking 10.
 
Sorry, I don't really understand what you're trying to say and what specifically you have taken. At any rate, nobody can give you advice unless you give us at least an outline of your "many" health issues. Are you sure that you're not just getting normal opiate itches and that sort of thing?

Ok I have Lupus,Fibro, High blood pressure, Had a mini stroke 1 year ago. I also have problems with my kidneys.Im 32 years old. To better explain I want to know if oxycodone causes a histamine release and in turn if that could be causing the swelling up of my face. I just got up and my face is still swollen. I just want to know is it likely that the oxy is causing the face swelling or making it worse due to it having a hisamine release. Or is it something else. For all I know It could be a allergy to something outside ect. The problem was there b4 I got my med refilled so I know its not all the cause but its gotten a little worse rather than better. When I woke up this morning my eyes were all yucky.

Actually, your many health issues make this harder to attribute to allergies. I would be cautious about any medical advice you get here.
 
yeah i would deff recommend seeing a doc before u take any more oxy. thats not normal

First and foremost, this reaction may not be related to oxycodone at all, but rather a side effect of another medication you are taking or completely unrelated allergies, such as environmental. Without a complete medication list and medical history, it would be nearly impossible to determine the cause of these effects.

That being said, if you are using oxycodone exclusively and no other medications, and can safely rule out any other type of allergies/health problems, there is a high likelihood that this is an allergic reaction to the medication. Keep in mind that oxycodone often comes in combinations with other analgesic meds, so it is still hard to determine the cause of said symptoms.

One can not rule out the possibility of the symptoms being attributable to a histamine release, as all opioids can cause a histamine release. I should point out that a histamine release is generally less of a problem with oxycodone than with morphine.

I highly suggest you go see a doctor as opposed to seeking medical advice from strangers on the internet, whose credentials it is nearly impossible to verify.

What? I have a masters degree in allergic reactions, haha! All kidding aside, hes right, seek medical attention.
 
^ HAHA. I realized when I saw that quote that it should be "whose credentials ARE impossible to verify," not "is." Silly me. But in all seriousness, get your ass to a doctor, friend. As you can see, that is by far the best advice you're going to get.
 
My girlfriend has the same problem after taking tramadol. Her face swells up real bad. I've read somewhere that swelling is a side effect of tramadol.
