Oxycodone for 5 days in hospital... to expect withdrawal?

I was in hospital for 5 days and has just gotten out. As someone who isn't experienced as an opiate user is a little worried. After being administered 5 mgs oxycodone 4-5 times a day for this period is there the potential for withdrawal. Doctors said highly unlikely....

Is this infact a tiny quantity unlikely to induce a state of withdrawal upon cessation? Consistent nature of the dosing round the clock even at such a low dose is what concerns...

Mild withdrawal perhaps, in that whatever injury you sustained that caused you to get put onto them might hurt for a few days and you might get a headache, but I very much doubt it will be anything worse than that. Taper shouldn't be necessary.
 
^ agreed, after 5 days it is unlikely you will experience anything other than very mild withdrawals if that - I wouldn't worry. As nAON said, you might want to try to move down onto a medium strength painkiller before hopping off though, or reduce your oxycodone dose right down, as you could still be in too much pain to stop it completely. That is something to discuss with your doctor, however.
 
A couple of years ago I was in the hospital, had some surgeries done.
I was put on an IV line of oxycodone and in the course of one day I would take about 80-100mgs of OxyContin tabs + as many 10mg OxyNorm (instant release) that I needed.
I had open heart surgery where they opened my chest so I had some pains.

Anyway I was on that schedule for about 1-1½ weeks then I quickly came of them all and I had no withdrawal at all.

I decided to continue dosing. My pain was severe on the day i thought i was stopping. On that particular day i ended up having a total of 7 oxynorm 5 mg tabs. After that i ceased for 48 hours but the pain was unbearable. Today i started again back to 5mg x 4 daily. I only have one day of work left before a holiday and that is tomorrow. So tomorrow will be my last day on oxynorm and this little run using them will be 9 days. I'm hoping i don't cross a threshold and encounter any major problems coming off. I'm terrified of becoming one of those horror stories that start out innocently enough.

So i've just had my last dose now. It's a total of 10 days since start till finish with a break of 48 hours in there somewhere and doses ranging from 20 mg to 30 mg. I guess this is relatively mild after having a read through other threads. Thanks for the reassurance. Always best to be overly concerned and anxious opposed to relaxed about something as potentially insidious as opiates yeah.
 
yeah you'll get away with minimal pain.

a few days of flu like symptoms, some minor aches and pains and maybe some diarrhea and that should be the worst of it.

consider getting yourself some over the counter imodium to help out with the diarrhea if you do get it.
 
Same here, I have been using oxynorm for the past 10 days, well abusing it. I have been sniffing more or less 60mg a day. I had a problem for years with heroin and quit recently. I am not willing to go back to being addicted to anything! I tried the oxy for fun and just because it became available to me. Woke up this morning feeling anxious and needed some. I am quitting the stuff now. Should I be worried about severe withdrawal and what can I expect?

I think you may have mild flu like symptoms for a few days. My question is - how do I post a new thread ?? As I would like to know the safest amount of OxyNorm 5mg fast acting pills I could take in one night. I have a high opiate tolerance (having been on 50mcg of Fentanyl, oramorph for over a year) and now Oxycodone 10mg slow release x4 daily and 6x 5mg OxyNorm fast acting daily. This is no longer giving me any sort of high. As well as 20mg diazepam daily. What could I take in order to get high? I'm 5ft 6inches and about 8.5 stone (sorry UK measurements)...

As for your other question...We're not here to help you get high. If you need help with something or want to know if a combo is dangerous, feel free to search / ask. If you just want to get wasted, this isn't the place to ask for recommendations. Best case scenario (guaranteed here): a mod closes your thread and tells you to read the BLUA. Worst case scenario (might happen elsewhere, but not here): someone wings it and says "take X amount of Y", you OD, and end up in a pine box. You won't get an answer here, and I wouldn't advise taking recs from anyone in general, since everyone responds to every drug differently.
